Number of specimens tested for SARS-CoV-2 by CDC labs
Only testing those with symptoms
CDC was not testing many, now the tests are being done statewide and apparently at commercial labs like LabCorp & Quest Diagnostics?
And that’s a comprehensive strategy to keep our older folks off of ventilators?
So out of approximately 20K tests, there are over 3K positive results.
That article was March 5, 10 days is like a 100 years to this virus.
I see in there...
LabCorp said the FDAs review of its test, currently pursuing an Emergency Use Authorization, is still pendingwhile Quest said it plans to submit its test and validation data to the agency within the mandated timeline.
The great and powerful Oz(gov/deep state)has spoken!
I think cdc is mostly testing presumpitve positives, the states do the tests first, and send positive ones for verificatimb
Yes, you are missing that it is old news and that the CDC testing process was not designed for high volume testing. It is a surveillance system done in a research lab context where samples are processed manually.
I like the way the little dog toto removes the curtain. Nice job toto.
Boo hoo for the CDC. No crying in baseball.
Don’t get me wrong. I am glad we are responding... Hurray for our side... I just want to hurry up and wait.
I know Roche Diagnostics here in Indiana shipped a half million out. So availability should be ramping up.
Just short of 20k tested. Should go up by 4 to 5k a day this week.
In WA state, a healthcare testing business received government funding to test sample people with the ordinary flu. They collected about 11,000 samples.
...........
With the new virus, on their own, they went back and tested those samples for COVID-19. They found nealy a hundred actually had COVID-19.
...........
They told the CDC.
.............
They were informed that those test results were private and that they could not legally tell the patients or even health authorities that they had the virus.
..............
The governor, did nothing, the feds, did nothing. Now its too late. They have either recovered, died or passed it on.
............
Evidently, now that there is a national emergency they could disclose.
.............
The UW started a driveby testing program first. Until they were informed that they could only test healthcare workers.
..............
In the future, laws need to change.
In general, what would have happened if 4 million tests had been completed and reported? With just the limited number reported now, look at the food/supplies panic.
Im not saying that is the case. Just that it is a possibility.
Sorry if we tested 4 million and 40,000 came back positive... We could tell those people to kindly stay home for 14 days.
They are preparing a test to check for antibodies but were/are hampered by the amount of time needed after infection for the blood to show antibodies. I'm not saying this well, but they need blood from those who were positive 3 weeks prior to develop the test.
