Actually I found mnore info on the Wuhan outbreak, not from any ‘official’ media, than I’m finding on their recovery these days.

Nobody is forcing anybody else to prep. But that guy wandering the neighborhood under quarantine begging for food is a spreader.

2009 Swine Flu, AKA (H1N1)pdm09 had an extremely low mortality of 0.05%, half or less than most seasonal flu strains and 1/20th or less of COVID-19. Swine flu only got any attention at all because it mostly killed younger people rather than "old people". If COVID-19 had the mortality rate of (H1N1)pdm09, no one would care about it. If COVID-19 killed mostly people under 50, the entire country would be shut down right now, and nobody would be complaining.

My point, perhaps made too oblique, is that some people see a fire on the horizon and begin to move.
Others wait for the Chief to validate there’s a fire on the horizon before they begin to move.
The Chief saw the fire all along, but had to factor in the impact to the tribe of pulling up stakes and moving. The old, the sick and the young. Lost hunting grounds. Wasted stores. Tired animals. Impending winter. And hostile tribes.
In such times the chief carries the heaviest of burdens. He must live among the survivors.
