Shares of Carnival Corp. slid by more than 17% in morning trading Thursday after its Princess Cruises line announced it is immediately suspending all operations for two months due to concerns over the rapidly spreading COVID-19 pandemic.
The announcement impacts the cruise lines fleet of 18 ships, the company said, and will affect voyages from Thursday to May 10. Princess Cruises President Jan Swartz said the company is taking the bold action to reassure investors of its commitment to the well-being of its passengers.

My Alaskan Cruise leaves from Seattle the Hotspot...wonder if NCL will do same same it goes to Vancouver.
i’d too after both princesses caught something viral....
Dont worry Princess, the American Taxpayer is there to keep you afloat.
People forgot about the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, eventually they’ll forget about this and cruise ships will be full again and “Over-Tourism” will come back with a vengeance.
Hope they’ve got insurance that’ll cover this.
They’d better not come crying for a bailout.
And if business interruption insurance covers WuFlu, or is forced to by Fedzilla, insurers may be taking it in the shorts, too.
Who insures the insurers.. ?

Maybe NOW is a good time to buy.

I think the cruise industry needs to rethink the way they recirculate air onboard, as well as general cleaning protocols. Way too many regular outbreaks onboard, not counting the current Corona situation.
We always do Alaska cruises sailing in and out of San Francisco, Seattle and Vancouver are a couple hour flight for us. I love avoiding airports in general.
We just did a Panama Canal cruise in last November on the Coral Princess, out of Ft. Lauderdale, ended in SF. No one was sick on that one, thank goodness.. We’ve been very lucky virus-wise over the years, not so in the casino or jackpot bingo tho.
Good luck.
