Good points, lil.

I just wish the public officials (of every country) would just come clean and say “This is our strategy, and this is why we are doing it this way.”

They may turn out to be right or wrong, but at least everybody would be reading from the same page.

Don’t condescend.
In particular, don’t defend the original condescension by doubling down.

I agree, people just want answers. Just tell us the plan. Don’t pee on my leg and tell me it’s raining.

“It seems that TPTB are reluctant to even give this particular demographic information, perhaps to avoid being called racist. I would be interested to know exactly the demographic breakdown.”

EXACTLY!

They are treating us like mushrooms. Keeping us in the dark, and feeding us bullshit.

A woman on Fox this Morning said she just arrived from Rome to LaGuardia and no on met her or asked questions. This is really fuarked up

A friend who spent the month of February in Italy and returned last weekend to the Boston area sent the following e- mail to our Wednesday Breakfast club.

````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Complete list of interview questions asked before we were allowed on the American Airlines plane in Italy - #1 “Have you been in China?”
No #2 question.....
In a straight ahead view the United States is better positioned than virtually any other country in the world to minimize the overall impact and scale of this.
Nonsense.
There are several other elements involved, despite the fervent desires of the never-Trumpers. In no particular order:
1) Quarantines inside and outside of China and the effect on other economies
2) Supply Chain (mainly from China
3) Demand for oil / commodities (China is fscked).
4) Price war for oil between OPEC, non-alighned (e.g. Iran, Russia), and Saudi Arabia
5) Secondary effects of that --
a) market hates uncertainty
b) effects on frackers (marginal high-cost producers, heavily in debt)
c) follow-on to production of US Natural Gas
6) China's economy and the effects on demand for US bonds
7) the Fed's rate cut (refi mortgages are going *NUTS*) and confidence in the market
8) the Lugenpresse
Researchers in China have found that two different types of the new coronavirus could be causing infections worldwide.
In a preliminary study published Tuesday, scientists at Peking University’s School of Life Sciences and the Institut Pasteur of Shanghai found that a more aggressive type of the new coronavirus had accounted for roughly 70% of analyzed strains, while 30% had been linked to a less aggressive type.
The more aggressive type of virus was found to be prevalent in the early stages of the outbreak in Wuhan — the Chinese city where COVID-19 was first detected late last year.
I’d think the incessant flights of Chinese tourists into Iran made more difference than some kids vacationing
t inoculates you’re population for the second wave.
Except I don't know if we know if it works that way. A lot of signs are pointing to "no".
of the businesses you mentioned, Hotels will gain some from family members quarantining. restaurants will go to take-out, and who needs conventions anyway - just an excuse to drink and act badly, usually on some corporate, government or university dime. Bars and Santa Clara county massage parlors hardest hit
