Interim Guidance for Protecting Health Care Workers from Exposure to Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)
Cal/OSHA Requirements

The Aerosol Transmissible Diseases (ATD) standard (California Code of Regulations, title 8, section 5199), contains requirements for protecting employees from diseases and pathogens transmitted by aerosols. COVID-19 is an airborne infectious disease covered by the ATD standard.

Re:205:

Are you posting that because you believe it shows that COVID-19 is transmitted by aerosols?

I don’t think you are as the underlying California Code defines an ATD as:

“Aerosol transmissible disease (ATD) or aerosol transmissible pathogen (ATP). A disease or pathogen for which droplet or airborne precautions are required, as listed in Appendix A.”

So they define it as a disease which requires droplet *or* airborne precautions.

I’m hopeful that research will soon show more information on aerosol transmission.

Thanks for the link blueplum. After reading Fury’s original link it was interesting the various ways that the different viruses are transmitted. Although I suppose there might be a distinction between the more “close contact” ones with the blood and fluids like Ebola and HIV and the more airborne types.

But thanks for an article specific to Covid-19. I convinced my wife awhile ago to wear a mask when going to high-risk areas, but she kept saying “well the CDC says...”.

“Yes - and I bet those same experts also say it is best for a child to take hormone blockers in an attempt to be the opposite sex.”
