???? That only adds up to about 30% total. Is the other 70% deaths unknown?

In addition to Life Care in Kirkland, residents in two other senior-care facilities in the Seattle area have tested positive for coronavirus. One facility is in Seattle and the other is in Issaquah, about 15 miles east of Seattle.

I guess that Dr Sunenshine hasn’t read that it can be transmitted by asymptomatic people.

or he deliberately wants to infect more people?

gotta run the gauntlet. Airport entrance, ticket agent, boarding gate, stewardesses, customs in US - were you in Lombardy, any contact, taking any meds, did you just cough etc. - if you can find a flight at all.

So far we’ve got about 9700 travelers from wherever, quarantined at ports of entry in Calif. I think NY just said they have about 3K. Each of the 11 ports of entry probably have a few thousand quarantined each. If they’re foreign nationals from hotspots that quarantine is mandatory 14 days and double testing before release the way I understand it. Enough in itself to stop many non-citizen tourists. Citizens get to home quarantine, tho, if they’re symptom free

Is hysteria from both patients and workers? I’ve been worried about this.

Feb 28 [short answer: no he did not]

Did Trump try to cut the CDC’s budget as Democrats claim?: ANALYSIS

“President Donald Trump is taking heat from Democrats for proposing budget cuts to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention amid growing fears about a new coronavirus outbreak in the United States, but administration officials say CDC funding has steadily increased since Trump took office.

“...Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said that, “during the president’s tenure, every part of our preparedness and infectious disease program activity has been enhanced and expanded.”

“Azar went on the say the president’s budget proposals are just the jumping-off point for budget negotiations.

“Budgets are like the first move in a chess game with, I’ll be honest, a fairly profligate Congress,” Azar said. “And the president starts that move with a budget knowing that we’re going to get a lot higher there as we work with Congress.”

The first case of novel coronavirus has been reported in Connecticut.

The person infected is an employee from Danbury Hospital and Norwalk Hospital and a New York resident.

The patient lives in Westchester County and is currently there under self-quarantine, according to the governor. The positive coronavirus test was performed in New York state. The results came back late Friday.

I think when people see articles like the CNN one I just read, they tend to go into hysterics.

(CNN)Amid a coronavirus outbreak in the United States, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is encouraging older people and people with severe chronic medical conditions to “stay at home as much as possible.”

How many people who recently visited Italy have passed through our airports and come in contact with other passengers and airport employees?

Considering that’s the demographic that has highest morbidity and mortality. That demographic doesn’t HAVE to go to work every day, doesn’t HAVE small children underfoot usually, they are the ONE demographic that can stay home most of the time during this.

Better there than in an ICU bed.

Someone asked me if I had read anywhere about the chest CT reliability, I just saw this article:

Wuhan CT Scans Reliable for Coronavirus Diagnosis, Limited for Differentiation

Chest CTs have low rate of misdiagnosis and can standardize imaging features and transformation rules for rapid diagnosis, yet modality is limited for identification of and distinguishing between specific viruses

“We are no longer recommending quarantine of exposed healthcare workers who don’t show any symptoms because we need our healthcare workforce during this response,” Dr. Sunenshine added.

They better be cleared with at least two negative tests, or each one becomes their very own little Typhoid Mary.

The results came back late Friday.

My fellow CT residents get to hear about it today.

How many folks were at those hospitals at risk for CV infection for days?

Our Governor has horrible poll numbers anyway, but he hasn't seen anything yet.
