Medicare now covers coronavirus testing
You may be hearing about the coronavirus (officially called 2019-novel coronavirus or COVID-19) in the news. While there isnt a vaccine yet, Medicare is still here to help. Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) covers a test to see if you have coronavirus. This test is covered when your doctor or other health care provider orders it, if you got the test on or after February 4, 2020.
You usually pay nothing for Medicare-covered clinical diagnostic laboratory tests. Note: Your provider will need to wait until after April 1, 2020 to be able to submit a claim to Medicare for this test.
To prevent the spread of this illness or other illnesses including the flu, here are some tips to follow:
Wash your hands often with soap and water
Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze
Stay home when youre sick
See your doctor if you think youre ill

A nurse who fell sick after caring for a virus victim couldn’t even get tested because she wore protective clothing.
Imagine the roadblocks with Medicare.
Ga briefing today they said that there would be no cost for the test through Medicaid, Medicare or commercial insurance. That was another big liberal push, that the tests were going to cost $3500, because some guy in quarantine or something. Sounded like a made up story. That one really ticked me off, because who knows how many high risk people wont request a test because of the lies.
Sure, Medicare mailed it to all subscribers. Useless info to me, though. Should I experience either mild or serious symptoms with deteriorating condition, I will refuse to cooperate with any attempt to transport me to hospitalization. I don’t want to be intubated and don’t want to endure biopsy of lung tissue. And don’t want to deal with permanent organ damage if “recovered”. Would rather add another one to “score” column of WA State. P.S. currently “on” numerous OTC preparations, hopefully to obviate the above. Also have Rx medications in store if things deteriorate.
