A new case of coronavirus in Santa Clara County, the countys third documented case, is now the second instance in the U.S. of community transmission of the virus.
The Santa Clara County Public Health Department was scheduled to give details of the latest coronavirus patient at a 4 p.m. news conference.
The county health department said this latest coronavirus case a 65-year-old woman with chronic health conditions has no known connection to travel in countries most affected by the virus or close contact with a known infected individual.
The development indicates the virus spreading among two separate populations within Northern California. In a prepared statement, county health officials declared that now is the time to prepare for the possibility of widespread community transmission.
SNIP
I'm just wondering if all these folks that are REALLY worried about it are self-quarantining?
Were all going to die!!! /s
Amazing it’s happening in Democratic party controlled state. Is this being done intentionally. So they can blame President Trump?
I’ve been thinking the same thing. They are utterly evil.
‘EYE-—DENTICAL!!!”
At 2am on a Sunday morning you can drive from Fairfield to Santa Clara in an hour.
On a Tuesday afternoon it’s 2-2.5 hours.
Definitely two separate instances that could become two clusters.
Santa Clara County is the US travel hub for tech, nationwide. And to Asia tech. And near the epicenter, if not THE epicenter of Chinese people in CA.
If it IS spreading there, it will spread everywhere very quickly unless completely shut down.
Or not.........
“So when they are finally available, the numbers will panic highly suggestible Americans?”
That’s where we’re at in the messaging war the administration now finds itself in.
Because of incompetence, utter incompetence at the CDC.
When they put 20,000 test kits in Norcal, it will be a very big deal.
Suddenly.
Whereas if they were there by Feb 1st, we would have been able to ID the infected early enough to quarantine. And the numbers would have been a steady trickle.
Criminal negligence. Criminal stupidity.
These numbers include Mainland China and All Others globally
85,176 declared cases
02,919 declared deceased
39,426 declared recovered
The current mortality rate of deceased / deceased + recovered = 6.89%.
That is a fluid number that is now dropping at the rate of about 0.61% per day.
However, due to the few "HOT" nations outside China right now, it appears
today's drop in mortality rate may be more like 37.5% - 42.5%.
42,345 cases have been declared resolved, and that represents 49.715%
of all declared cases to date. (resolved = deceased or recovered)
As of this post, the active cases have dropped by 1,109 cases today.
This has been taking place for nearly a week, and the drop has been growing.
It may not continue, if cases outside China mushroom. There are now 42,831
active cases. That is 15,978 cases fewer than the highest count of active
cases at 15:13 PST on 02/17/2020. That figure was 58,809.
Yesteday's recovered figure for the one day, was 3,721. Today we're on a
path to hit 2,900.
The big days of China's declared cases are now over two weeks past. Look
for one day recovered numbers to drop off until the global community's large
declared cases become ripe, and people start being declared well there.
The numbers seem to indicate that the decline of active global cases will
probably end in 3-6 days. From that point on the number of active cases will
be growing again.
These numbers address the cases outside of Mainland China.
At this point only 6.95% of all declared cases exist outside Mainland China.
Three days ago, that figure was 3.62%. At the end of the day yesterday,
that figure was 5.48%.
5,915 declared cases
0,084 declared deceased
0,498 declared recovered
The current mortality rate of deceased / deceased + recovered is 14.43%.
That figure is grosely high, and should not be used for purposes of
extrapolation of what lies ahead. It takes several weeks for people to
be infected, and recover. As in the large body of cases above, this
mortality rate is declining, and will pick up speed at the two week mark
of our largest daily declared infections outside China.
582 cases have been declared resolved, and that represents 9.84% of the
cases declared outside of Mainland China.
There are now 5,333 active cases outside of China.
The number of declared cases has grown by 29.52% so far today or 1,348
cases.
There are now 60 nations declaring cases within their borders. 1+
Four nations or entities of the 59 nations or entities outside of China
account for over 80% of all active cases outside China at this time.
2,931 49.55% South Korea
0,803 15.83% Italy
0,705 11.92% Diamond Princess Cruise Ship
0,388 06.56% Iran
83.86% of all cases ourside of China...
This information was worked up from my database of Johns Hopkins
University numbers that they provided over the last month.
If you wish to see the basis for these findings, click on a link to the data
files I have provided on the forum.
I had bumper stickers made saying
“VOTE DEM OUT”
And one has to wonder if some illegal came across the border with it and casual, but unknown, contact happened somewhere along the line...our border is our biggest weak link as too many pass by undetected and cannot be screened.
I agree with your assessment. I live in the Central Valley and my husband works in Silicon Valley. I am there at least once a week. It is an economic, social and cultural feeder to a large part of the country. Whether anything spreads depends on how this virus arrived there and how the victim/host behaved before being diagnosed. I am cautiously optimistic that people like myself can weather the storm but I have few illusions about the elderly, infirm and homeless.
All true.
The Chinese believe in ONLY two things: luck and money. So, cleanliness, honesty, things like that aren't important.
What is so repulsive is that they think that their culture is superior to all others. India, the other OLD country, is similar but not NEARLY to the extent of Chinese.
I think that the Chinese are THE MOST clannish people on the face of this earth.
All true. The Chinese moved out of Chinatown (San Francisco) and moved, en masse, to San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.
Lucky you, you moved away.
Three guesses: white, white and white.
I read that when the story first broke.
Is there a "Chinatown" there? If there is, the virus would show up there.
It's the filth that appears in a culture that's been entrenched in an area for some generations.
Its probably hard to believe but Asians, worldwide, are the most discriminatory and bigoted people when it comes to race and skin color. They truly believe that yellow people are superior to all other colors. But they are particularly virulently biased against black people. The really weird thing is they dont consider themselves racist one bit. They just believe that they are in fact superior, that it is an established fact requiring no explanation nor any defense.
