Organizers of the Staten Island parade did not respond to messages seeking comment over the past week. But they have publicly argued in the past that L.G.B.T. groups are not appropriate for a parade dedicated to St. Patrick, who is the patron saint of both Ireland and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York.
Those arguments are similar to ones made for many years by organizers of the New York City parade, which is preceded each year by a special Mass at St. Patricks Cathedral.

Larry Cummings, the president of the Staten Island parade committee, did not respond to messages seeking comment over the past week.
Kathleen MacDonald, the treasurer of the parade committee, hung up when reached on the phone by a reporter. She did not respond to a subsequent message seeking comment.
But in recent years Mr. Cummings has explained the ban on L.G.B.T. groups to news organizations that serve Staten Island or the Irish diaspora.
In 2018, he told The Irish Voice, a newspaper in New York City, that the inclusion of gay groups in the Manhattan parade has no bearing on Staten Island.
Our parade is for Irish heritage and culture, he told the newspaper. It is not a political or sexual identification parade.
He added: Gays can march, but not under a banner.
Speaking last week to The Staten Island Advance, a local newspaper, he was more blunt.
Heres the deal, its a nonsexual identification parade and thats that. No, they are not marching, Mr. Cummings said. Dont try to keep asking a million friggin questions, OK?
That decision has cast a pall over the parade and drawn criticism from elected officials from both parties, many of whom have said they will not march, including Mayor Bill de Blasio

I guess I can kind of understand why the homos are upset. After all, it’s the only other parade in town besides theirs where men wear skirts.
As an Irishman I oppose Gaylicks marching in our parade!
I'll never attend any such parade where pervs participate...which,I assume, means I'll never again attend one.
I never understand the desire of homosexuals to force themselves into unrelated events.
As noted, the parade is not a parade of sexual identity, sexual expression, or any of that.
Heck, isn’t that what the Gay Pride parade is for, for them to express themselves?????
Even though I’m sure there are “gay” Irish who want to be in a St. Patrick’s Day event, the point if it is not that someone is a homosexual, the point of it is to celebrate the Irish heritage and even the Catholic Irish identity of St.Patrick. The point is not to be overtaken by homosexuality at such an event.
WOW!! NYC has FINALLY done something RIGHT!
Staten Island is very different from the rest of NYC.
I’ve never been there, but have heard Staten Island developed differently. It’s geographically separate from the rest of NYC, but is still within the city limits of NYC. It has more suburban single family type neighborhoods than other parts of the city, which tend to be dominated by high rise apartment buildings and brownstones.
And I understand the types of people who live on Staten Island tend to be more conservative, and/or less crazy liberal in their politics.
They’re malignant narcissists. Attention whoring is their thing.
Have you been to Ireland, it’s full blown blue state with abortion and leftardism.
As an American-Italian, we in general, are not into faggotry. I personally find these degenerate pukes a sub-species lower than amoeba.
BINGO!! I couldn't have said it better!
Good! It’s a behavior.. Not a race, color or creed.
Anything but heterosexuality has ALWAYS been considered perverse, sick and/or sinful by all the cultures of this planet.
From Google: In a nationally representative, online sample of 3145 men and 3283 women, 3.6% of the men and 1.4% of the women identified as gay. A further 5.5% of the men and 7.4% of the women identified as bisexual.
Even if these numbers were accurate, and I don't think they are, that leaves 95% MINIMUM of the human race as normal bisexual. I think the numbers are inflated. They were probably from a survey and surveys are the rock bottom WORST source of information.
The ENORMOUS coverage that this HUGE minority gets is what's sickening. The MEDIA glorify them, no one else.
In the end they don't reproduce (usually) and they die out. THEN they get to meet their Maker. Shudder! Try and explain THAT to their Maker.
Good for him!!!!!
It’s plain and simple. You don’t do for one group what you can’t do for all. If they let one group in, they’ll have to let others, so it’s just prudent not to let any in.
It's getting to be a treat to NOT have something tainted with sexual perversion or political commentary.
I believe they (mostly the men), are exhibitionists by nature of their sexual orientation. There's a hell of a lot more men who dress up in womens' clothes, than females who dress up in mens' clothes. They're cross-dressers, plain and simple, and they like to flaunt it.
The Irish on Staten Italy are about as Irish as I am. Many would say it is a good thing.
Lots of two family homes and townhouses. Lots of government employees (ironically) especially police, fire, building inspectors, train motormen, etc. Lots of well paid tradesmen on the South Shore. Much more Italian descent than Irish, but less European feeling and more like parts of Brooklyn in the 1970s. Growing Hispanic and Eastern European populations. Less solidly Republican than reactionary in the old sense of the terms. Like taking a step back several decades. If you didnt grow up there, you will be made to feel like an outsider.
