A roughly 2500 point loss already, and that’s before the first outbreak has even happened in the US. On top of that,Trump is right—the smart players are cognizant of the fact that Bernie Sanders is the likely Dem nominee. The prospect of a full-on commie president us good reason to avoid equities.

Yes. I can see a deep stater pondering those critical descision issues. Should we avoid panicking the people or should we avoid killing them ? Difficult descision for some apparently. To be fair the only decent arguement for the delay by CDC is that the panicking will kill more then the disease. I think for this disease, that theory falters.

no wonder the ccp freaked out ... once they sequenced and the process of id’ing the virus hit up plus whatever bureacracy they had to get through, they knew something horrible had gotten out.
I doubt they understood the relapse factor in advance unless they have done human testing. If this turns out to be like herpes or HIV, where once you are infected with the virus, you have it for life, that would be devastating. I had Chickenpox (herpes zoster) as a kid, then 40 years later it came back as Shingles.
There were some epidemiologists at the beginning of Feb that predicted it could become a seasonal virus. If it becomes like the common cold, another coronavirus, where you never get immunity, that might be even worse.
