A forever thread is getting long. Perhaps a weekly thread?
WIth a 3% CFR according to China, that's a floor of 30 million infected in / around Wuhan.
But if the CFR around Wuhan is much higher, maybe then the total infection would be more consistent with what we know the population of Wuhan was...?
Yeah, me either. I sort of quit watching the China numbers. I think we will get the real story from Iran, Italy, S. Korea, Japan (maybe) and Singapore
Scary chart.
I’m old, asthmatic, diabetic.
If that stuff hits me, I’m probably toast.
If China only has 18 infections. China has a cure, and maybe had the cure all along. They thin their population (poor people) out for cover then infect the rest of the world.
I think China is lying.
I still say it’s India that really bears watching. But I wouldn’t be so sure of the reporting from there, neither.
If China only has 18 infections.
no 18 new outside of Hubei (630 there)
I think the USA has made that decision already. If you don't measure it, you don't have to admit it is happening.
Good news from Singapore though, is they have a lot of recoveries. They have good healthcare, like the US. But I think they are more proactive than the US with testing and contact tracing. That, so far, has allowed them to stay on top of things.
Yeah, and that area was and is loaded with military related facilities There's the Anniston Army Depot where most tanks and other tracked vehicles are repaired, and also a chemical weapons storage facility and incinerator.
Fort McClellan was also a POW camp during WWII. A lot went on there over the years. You can just scan this Wiki entry and see a good bit. It was also used as an area for Boy Scout Jamborees, a couple of which I attended there years ago.
For sure, Indonesia too, but I think we wont get a lot of data from those places
“... of the total 443 confirmed cases, more than half, or 231 were linked to Daegu, sect, while at least 111 - including four nurses - were from the psychiatric ward of the hospital in Cheongdo County. The two clusters account for almost 80% of the confirmed cases.” (from ZH)
Weird. There was a big cluster in a Wuhan mental hosp too.
Putting this here because... I sure hope they are testing for both.
A record-breaking 105 US children have died from flu so far this season

(CNN) - So far this season,105 children have died from the flu, according to data released Friday by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This is the highest number of child flu deaths at this point in the season since the CDC started keeping records in 2004, except for the 2009 flu pandemic.
It has been an “unusual” flu season with a higher proportion of children and young adults affected than the older population, according to Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious disease specialist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

“I still say its India that really bears watching”
Oh no I did not think about India with there caste system. It could be a million infected quickly, very dense population in real third world condition.
True, and there's another thread where some Iranian cleric is blaming Trump for one of the outbreaks there. The president really needs to find a few who support his agenda and him, and start building a much more loyal and trustworthy team for his second term. Of course, the Deep State bureaucracy will remain a problem.
And clusters around Korean churches.
From your link...regarding kids and this year’s flu...
.... “This is the first time in 25 years where [influenza B] became so common so early,” said Dr. Buddy Creech, an associate professor of pediatric infectious diseases at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Neither Schaffner nor Creech know why this year’s influenza timeline is so different.
“It’s leaving all influenza virologists puzzled,” Schaffner said....
The article also suggests that it may be affecting kids who’ve NOT been vaccinated (flu shots), than those who have.
... I think they are more proactive than the US with testing and contact tracing...
That’s the key, I believe.
You should always be able to find it on one of the last Coronavirus threads.
