Yes, I was given NO prescription and definitely NOT pain meds. We were able to find colloidal silver in an ointment and I have it smeared across my lesions. I don’t know if this is the worst pain I’ve ever had, but I did apologize to the community in advance just in case I slap them by accident!

Sadly I have no advise Jemian. My husband has suffered through them several times working each time. But he now has nerve damage in some areas but most of his problem has left. He did have the shot I believe around 5 years ago at the suggestion of his family doctor. I was to also have the shot but at that time it contained MSG in the ingredients. The nurse refused to give me the shot for worry of my allergy problems. The shot has made all the difference to my husband. But as we know well, People's bodies respond differently. you are not contagious until the rash forms pustules and “leaks”.. then you are highly contagious. You probably know that

Might I suggest taking L-Lysine supplements?
They lesson the severity of the Herpes virus (cold sores)
and shingles belong in that category

Singles are Herpes Zoster, and cold sores are Herpes Simplex.
I have taken them with great success.
