Holland America should be sued to bankruptcy over this. They stopped at HK and let 800 passengers onboard in the middle of an outbreak.
Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
Some small port in China will do. In fact the local port honchos could probably extract a huge price from the Holland America line and the passengers who will be “quarantined” in the port for their “hospitality”. Imagine the cost of a ticket to fly out of there once they are thoroughly soaked and “cleared”.
I know the odds of getting the virus (and any other virus) is greater on a cruise ship but I wonder how the statistics of this specific cruise ship matches what is going on in the major cities of China. Is it worse, the same, or better, my gut feeling is it worse, time will tell.

CHINA STARTED GIVING ANTIVIRAL MEDICINE MADE BY GILEAD || THE SAME DRUG WHICH U.S. HAS USED ON ITS FIRST CORONAVIRUS PATIENT; SYMPTOMS IMPROVED ON THE NEXT DAY
Based on the 61 infected on the other cruise ship I’d say Coronavirus is highly contagious

My wife and I at one time enjoyed cruising throughout the Caribbean and Gulf. We’ve got 23 sailings between us.
The last two cruises we both got sick onboard and immediately thereafter. Nasty, upper respiratory viruses that hung on for weeks. We decided after our last one we were done. As others have said, the damn things are a petri dish.
It might be a good time to dry dock these ships until this passes.
Definitely time to short Holland America and every other cruise company...
I’m leaving on a HAL cruise in 3 weeks. This should be interesting.
What a phone call to make, “...sorry boss, I’m stuck on this cruise ship with lots of food, alcohol and ladies running around in bikinis...”
It’s time to simply cancel all cruises until this potential pandemic fades away.
Or else just let the ships leave a port, sail around for a few days, and then return to the port they departed from.
