As a tribute to Rush, I am asking his fans to remember their favorite update theme songs. He mostly stopped the use of these during the Bush43 and Obama years due to music royalty issues but here were some of my favorites:
This one goes way back:
Dan’s Bake Sale update: “Baking’ Cookies” (1993)
LOOKS - that is a good one.
Do you remember that song that he would play probably 15-20 years ago (maybe he still does) during breaks? It’s on Spanish and the male singer talks about “happy feet”. Loved that song.
Ugh - KOOKS!
“In A Yugo”
sung to “In The Ghetto” by Elvis Presley
If you remember the Lewinsky days and her lawyer William Ginsburg, Rush’s update theme was the most hilarious thing I’ve ever heard. Don’t know the song but it had a lady yodeling with Ginsburg’s voice interspersed in the song. This guy was a loon, lifetime friend of Lewinsky’s family. Talked about how he kissed Monica’s inner thighs when she was a baby.
Klaus Nomi. I love the rest of his stuff, too. I mean, obviously, when I say “stuff” , I mean “music”. Geez.
Don't forget "My Boy Lollipop" for Bawney Fwank.
“Try to Remember,” was sung by the late, great Jerry Orbach (who first sang the song from the “Fantasticks,” off-Broadway) at the Reagan White House. at 5 minutes 3 seconds https://youtu.be/TZrXGoxSuSo
“Una Paloma Blanca”!
That just made me laugh out loud! I remember that! What a whoot!
I have always loved hearing, “well, thank the Lord, Rush Limbaugh’s on! Yes thank the Lord Rush Limbaugh’s! Talent...on loan...from God!”
God bless you, Rush! xoxoxoxo
Don't forget the earlier Paul Silhan creations. Silhan didn't do the impressions Shanklin offered, but his one man parodies of classic tunes were glorious back in the Clinton years such as: The Little First Lady With Megalomania, Lie-a-Lot, Bill Clinton's Funding Shakedown, Everyone Knows It's Hillary, Only Baloney, Sympathy for the Poor Devil, El Reno, Spinball Wizard, Don't Worry Hillary, Copacabana '97, The Power of Rush. Silhan burned out after 6 magical albums.

The technical term was GORBASM
It referred to that feeling of euphoria that liberals would feel whenever they thought of the great things that Michael Gorbachev was capable of.
It was my first introduction to Rush ... his national show had just begun airing in San Diego and was during latter Reagan / Bush years. It was absolutely hilarious while simultaneously driving libs nuts! Just like SOTU tonight ;)
Dammit, my screen got blurry again.
I loved this one “Moving on Up” mainly because I liked the TV show “The Jeffersons”.
That was The Imperial March — it was the them song for the latest Gorbasm.
“A Gorbasm, ladies & gentlemen, is fake. A Gorbasm is a phony feeling of bliss and euphoria. Mikhail Gorbachev was credited by the media, and by many liberals in this country, with preserving the peace and security of the planet threatened by warmonger Ronald Reagan, and with bringing freedom to Eastern Europe and what used to be the Soviet Union.”
