Desperate Chinese citizens unable to buy face masks have deployed fruit rinds and plastic bottle helmets to shield against the deadly coronavirus.
Companies have been working overtime to supply citizens with protective masks amid surging demand as cases of the deadly flu-like virus soared to nearly 8,200 today.
Social media posts show people donning tangerine and grapefruit skins as masks, water-cooler bottle headgear, while pranksters have mocked the health crisis with absurd alternatives, including iceberg lettuce.
It comes as Chinese health officials warned people not to re-use their protective masks after videos emerged of people boiling their surgical masks and hanging them up to dry.
Medical experts warned that this greatly reduces the effectiveness of the masks, a spokeswoman for the Gansu province Health Commission added that they should be discarded after just four hours of use.
With more than 50 million residents on lock-down and 170 deaths in the country, some provinces such as Guangdong have mandated that people wear masks and are handing out fines for offenders.

I don’t know why but every old person I talk about meds with, seems to be very concerned about grapefruits. They interfere with prescription drugs, or whatever. Somebody should write the song: “I can’t eat grapefruit!”
You would think they’d put a warning label on it.

Surely there are teams in India call centers right now working out new and imaginative ways to take advantage of the pending global panic.
Face mask bra? Mine would be too big for my little face and no I won’t supply the pic to prove it :D
That said I am all in favor of frilly, colorful flu masks.

When I was a freshman in high school there was a kid in my P.E. class who did not know what a jock strap was. This was in Los Angeles. We told him it was a smog filter. We showed him how to wear it on his head with the front part covering his mouth and nose. That is how he wore it on the first day of P.E. class.
Can’t they just order masks on Amazon and get free two-day shipping?

They are surely being creative. never would have dreamed of grapefruits or bras.
We called it Jocksygen.
If you are on blood thinners (which seems to be more and more persons) grapefruit..it can cause bleeding. (as can CBDs BTW)
