WASHINGTON — Democrats stepped up their calls on Sunday night for John Bolton to testify at President Donald Trump's impeachment trial after an explosive new report alleged that in his unpublished book, the former national security adviser said Trump personally tied Ukraine aid to an investigation of the Bidens — an account that conflicts with the president's.
"John Bolton has the evidence," tweeted Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.
According to the manuscript, as reported by The New York Times Sunday night, Trump told Bolton that nearly $400 million in aid to Ukraine would not be released until that nation offered assistance with probes into Democratic targets, including former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.
NBC has not verified the report, which cited multiple sources familiar with Bolton’s account, or seen a copy of that manuscript.
The contents of that manuscript were described as a rough account of how the former Trump official would testify should he be called as a witness in the Senate trial, which is currently underway. The prospect of any new witnesses has been viewed as unlikely, given most Republicans reluctance to accept additional testimony.
Hill Democrats on Sunday said the new report highlighted the urgency of a Senate request for Bolton's testimony — a move which would require several GOP votes.

More of the same. They know Bolton will not be allowed to testify. They can make anything up knowing Bolton will not be allowed to rebut the story.
Republicans need to shut this sham down.
I see the plan now. If they can get enough Republicans who they have influence over for whatever reason to keep this sham going. Their will be a backlash of anger against the Republican senators from the Republican base voter.
So what. Trump didn’t bad mouth Bolton. If and when he does he’ll have 30 thousand people repeating it in a stadium. Bolton is not as important as he thinks. He’s being used by the Dems. If I wanted some spotlight I can go to the Dems with allegations about Trump and I’d have MSNBC and CNN flunkies booking me for an evening interview.
