There are currently 2,493 confirmed cases worldwide, including 80 fatalities.
If I wanted to do that kind of thing, I'd move to Iran! (And maybe those Iranians are just very secretive, but as of this writing, there are fewer confirmed cases of this lovable virus in Iran than in the United States. That's what the Iranian parliament likes about this virus!)
What is one generation (lifespan) for this virus?
I was trying to explain to my wife how each generation could mutate to become deadlier or less dangerous.
By the way, it occurred to me that maybe the health agencies like WHO and others are waiting for cases of h2h transmission outside of China to declare a pandemic. I still believe shutting borders with endemic areas is prudent... even if it slows it by 1/3, as one study suggested, that still buys more time for hospitals to dust off their protocols and prepare.
I dont know if that is the technical term, but I mean first generation being the first sick in China, and second generation being those who caught it from them, and so on. I *think* viruses can mutate to deadlier or to less deadly as they spread, but I really dont know
I would feel a lot better if we could get through flu season before it hits hard here (if it does), first so that healthcare/hospitals are not overwhelmed and second so cases of Coronavirus would be less likely to be mistaken for other respiratory illness.
200 people under “observation” in India. One suspected case. Per India Today. If in fact Indian Gov confirms this case, then a real shit-storm will erupt! May be reason Gov holding back...
I think we will be through the flu season. When does it end?
I think it will take a good three months before we see a large number of Coronavirus cases here. The US is spread out compare to China.
It’s coming. The question is whether we are ready
You can say that again!
There is a second case in Ontario, the wife of the first case!
He went to Wuhan recently, she did not.

When India gets this, especially if in some of the large cities, Katie bar the door...
Oh no, this confirm human to human outside of China.
First #CoronaVirus case reported in India - in Jaipur.
Sure enough, an MBBS student studying in China. https://t.co/YVPFr0qm1C— www.TheLearningPoint.net; (@learning_pt) January 27, 2020
While the article highlights his travelling, in an early paragraph it does say that she had returned to Ontario as well. While it does not say from where, I would assume that it was from Wuhan and that she was exposed to largely the same people he was.
I do think that it further confirms person to person, but I think that that was already a given.
This is the most underperforming drama-bug ever. More people caught the common cold than this thing, which is related to the common cold. That’s right, the common cold includes several forms of the coronavirus.
Just in: Hong Kong, as an intl transport hub, is particularly vulnerable to epidemics. The citys flagship airline @cathaypacific has confirmed in an internal email that a passenger who flew from Hong Kong to Los Angeles on Jan 20 has been infected by the #WuhanCoronovirus. pic.twitter.com/dG0N4pOemd— Ezra Cheung (@ezracheungtoto) January 27, 2020
Stay healthy! Stay out of crowds.
