eijing has today announced major Chinese New Year events will be cancelled to control the spread of the killer coronavirus.
Officials in the Chinese capital have scrapped events including temple fairs – which can attract thousands of tourists.
Residents have been urged to 'strengthen prevention' against the virus, which has killed 17 and potentially infected thousands.
Almost 600 people have been confirmed to have the virus, with cases recorded in the US, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau - as well as China.

North Korea has closed its borders and not even permitting Chinese tour groups in. A main source of income for N. Korea. A population already weakened from near starvation and widespread tuberculosis is extremely vulnerable to an illness such as Coronavirus.
You see all of these SciFi movies about zombie apocalypti, all full of action and violence because the effected people become mindless violent zombies.
I think that a regular flu epidemic mind up having just as much violence without it being a symptom of the disease. Just people being people in a desperate situation.
Instead of focusing resources on Global Warming, I wish the scientific community would tell me why common colds last 3 weeks now when decades ago it was 3 days.

The real number has to be huge. I’m waiting for some of the travelers from my office to bring it back here. They’re due back next week.

Based on 7.8b people on the earth, that’s 195m people. Wait thill this hits Africa and India.
You may not see them for a while. If they fly back it might be that they are quarantined.

2% is very bad if it is very easy to catch it.
But you are relying on China’s self-reporting of the death rate. We don’t yet know if 2% is the truth.
