Phil Collins is right up there.
I’ve been listening to them since ‘83. Very freedom-oriented lyrics even into the Test for Echo era, but Peart drifted Left as his unrepentant atheism led him. He will be missed, but his music lives on.
I dont think God cares for politics. Im sure every political groups have some percentage of people in heaven.
I was fortunate to see them live four times: 1) Power Windows tour, 2) Roll the Bones tour, 3) Test for Echo tour, and 4) Snakes and Arrows Tour. Neil was a great drummer.
Wait.
What?
RIP Neal. I’ve always been a huge fan of Rush and Neal. Just a fantastic band and my favorite thing from Canada.
Funny that Spirit of Radio was frequently thought of as a positive song about the radio industry, when it was a massive slam against their commercialism.
Kinda like The Police’s “Every Breath You Take” being used as a romantic wedding song when it’s actually about a creepy, obsessed stalker.
Then there was Peter Grant basically threatening Grand Funk Railroad if they didn't stop opening for Led Zeppelin because they were blowing them off the stage.
I wonder if fans might put a memorial in one of the terminals of Pearson Airport (YYZ)?
Damn!
Hard for me to pick a best though. 8>)
I’m with you on the Wilson sisters, especially Ann, my favorite singer. I’m a drummer, so Derosier is my favorite drummer, but the loss of Neil Peart is just huge. He was an inspiration to so many.
Not a good few months for drummers, first there was Ginger Baker.
Damn. RIP, Mr. Peart. You were a towering giant.
Thats not Tom Sawyer, thats Huckleberry Finn, stupid!
I AM GEDDY LEE AND I WILL SING WHATEVER LYRICS I WANT!!!!
And Gene Krupa!
He was an atheist before that. Its impossible to say if he saw the light before the end, but I hope he did.
Horrible news. Grew up listening to Rush. Saw them multiple times in concert in many different states. Always put on a good show. Hopefully he was saved before he died.
Wow, that’s young. I’m not a drummer, though I love drums. I’ve noticed that Peart was highly spoken of.
