Buckingham Palace is understood to be 'disappointed' at Harry and Meghan's decision to quit as senior royals amid claims that the couple did not tell the Queen before they announced their departure on social media.
They made their announcement on their official Instagram account this evening following speculation about a move.
Following their statement, the BBC's Royal Correspondent Jonny Dymond said on Twitter: 'BBC Understands that no other member of the Royal Family was consulted before Harry and Meghan issued their personal statement tonight, the Palace is understood to be "disappointed".'
A Buckingham Palace spokeswoman followed up by saying that discussions with the couple on their decision were 'at an early stage', adding: 'We understand their desire to take a different approach, but these are complicated issues that will take time to work through.'

From everything I’ve read, Harry was considered a good soldier and good pilot, respected by the men he led in the military and seemed to have a level head on his shoulders.
But since he met her his wife has been leading him around like a little child.

Their specific choice of words is a huge red flag. Like all “progressives” and their social-engineering schemes, they are going to create division and anger. Given it will take place within the monarchy, it will be far worse. Its going to become a freak-show.
I really think this is a case of extreme green envy on the part of Meghan. She is not the biggest celebrity in the Royal household, and her hubby is now only 6th in succession to the throne. On top of that. her son, Archie, did not automatically get a title of Prince which riled her a lot.
I think Meghan has a short fuse and in addition to envy, has a vice of impatience. My understanding is that getting a title of prince could still be forthcoming for little Archie, as his grandfather, Charles, would be able to raise Archie’s status to Prince once Charles ascends the throne and is King of England. Archie being a son of a Royal Prince and grandson of the King in a male line, would be eligible for a higher tile from his grandpa. Too bad Meghan is such a control freak.
I am sad about all of this as Harry was so young when he lost his Mum, and now he has unfortunately been snared by a social climber who is not one bit concerned for his happiness when she is separating him from his family, homeland, inheritance, etc. I feel that days of their marriage are numbered.
Maybe she will banish Harry, Meghan, and Andrew to St Helena to rule it together for the rest of their lives.
No , they are the biggest tourist attraction they have, you must have the royals.
