A systematic review and meta-analysis led by St. Michael's Hospital of Unity Health Toronto found children who drank whole milk had 40 per cent lower odds of being overweight or obese compared with children who consumed reduced-fat milk.
The research, published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, analyzed 28 studies from seven countries that explored the relationship between children drinking cow's milk and the risk of being overweight or obese. None of the studieswhich involved a total almost 21,000 children between the ages of one and 18 years oldshowed that kids who drank reduced-fat milk had a lower risk of being overweight or obese. Eighteen of the 28 studies suggested children who drank whole milk were less likely to be overweight or obese.
The findings challenge Canadian and international guidelines that recommend children consume reduced-fat cow milk instead of whole milk starting at age two to reduce the risk of obesity.
"In our review, children following the current recommendation of switching to reduced-fat milk at age two were not leaner than those consuming whole milk."
Dr. Maguire, who is also a scientist at the MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions, next hopes to establish the cause and effect of whole milk and lower risk of obesity in a randomized controlled trial.
"All of the studies we examined were observational studies, meaning that we cannot be sure if whole milk caused the lower risk of overweight or obesity. Whole milk may have been related to other factors which lowered the risk of overweight or obesity," Dr. Maguire said.
"A randomized controlled trial would help to establish cause and effect but none were found in the literature."

Ah, yes. I knew that.
But then forgot it!
Thank you.
I believe people can have a variety of diets and be healthy. In that light, I believe you to be very wrong, as you believe only your approach is healthy. That is a bigoted approach that flies in the face of all sorts of scientific studies. In fact, the wealth of dietary information that has said saturated fats, sodium, and red meats were unhealthy have been disproven. The only healthy carbs are unrefined ones, which you thankfully eat. There are no essential carbs, though.
Without a doubt, lower carb is healthy and the American Diabetic Association admitted over a dozen years ago that a low carb diet was the only diet that stopped Type 2 diabetesbut they couldnt endorse it because they believed it was too difficult. They admitted your diet was not capable of stopping diabetes, but that with drugs, the progression toward worsening diabetes could be slowed.
Well, after saying that my position was bigoted for believing that only my diet was healthy, you went on to say that only a low carb diet is healthy. At the end of the day, everyone believes that their way is the correct way otherwise they wouldnt be doing it. But here is the correct info on type two diabetes:

Here is the earlier admission from the ADA that low carb actually works:

Your site is effectively a vegetarian/vegan site, only. You use biased sources. I go to independent authorities that can see the benefits from all sides.
A doctor said I should drink 1% milk... ick!
I tried 2%... yuck!
I went back to whole milk and feel much better.
Felling run down? It was all the sugar I was drinking when I would drink 3 or 4 cans of Coca Cola. I stopped. Can’t stand the taste now of coke.
+1
Have you tried a homemade McD salad? Really good and tastes just like the burger.
I guess maybe cow meat is for lions and tigers and bears, ...oh my!
And eggs are for foxes....for the young and growing, cow’s milk is good food...
Maybe do more research? I have lost 120 lbs, reduced my atherosclerosis, dramatically improved triglycerides, HDL, and A1C way down.
What I like about this way of eating is that it is so easy after the first week or so. I will be eating this way for the rest of my life.
Please know that I am 76, and lost the weight over these past two years. It is not a fad, in my opinion. I say again, do a little more research, and you might change your mind.
Im good with research. Ive been researching the stuff for over 10 years. I have posted many links throughout this thread containing quality medical information. I can only do so much to help people. Hopefully you and the others will take a look at it. Glad youre doing well.
