The climate summit in Madrid earlier this month did not collapse -- but by almost any measure it certainly failed.
Five years after the fragile UN process yielded the world's first universal climate treaty, COP25 was billed as a mopping-up session to finish guidelines for carbon markets, thus completing the Paris Agreement rulebook.
Governments faced with a crescendo of deadly weather, dire alarms from science and weekly strikes by millions of young people were also expected to signal an enhanced willingness to tackle the climate crisis threatening to unravel civilisation as we know it.
The result? A deadlock and a dodge.
The 12-day talks extended two days into overtime but still punted the carbon market conundrum to next year's COP26 in Glasgow.

From the moment Trump was elected -- on Day Two of COP22 in Marrakesh -- advocates of climate action have played down the negative impact of the world's largest economy and second biggest carbon polluter pulling out of the Paris deal.
But the corrosive "Trump effect" was palpable in Madrid, as was the anger at Washington for twisting arms even as it walked out the door.
"There are one or two parties that seem hell-bent on ensuring any calls for ambition, action and environmental integrity are rolled back," said Simon Stiell, Grenada's environment minister.
Poor and small-island nations exposed to climate-addled weather -- drought, heatwaves, super-storms, rising seas -- were especially incensed at behind-the-scenes US efforts to block a separate stream of money for "loss and damage".

Extortion loot is running low.
On November 4, 2020 -- the day after US voters will renew Donald Trump's mandate or turn him out of office -- the United States is set to formally withdraw from the Paris Agreement.
Well, that party just got bigger.
The headline might as well say ‘Sun Talks Failed’, since the sun controls the climates of all its planets. No amount of money is going to help man control the sun.
Where do these second rate sites get all these writers who cannot comprehend that the United States is not a signatory to a treaty if the Senate refuses to ratify it?
It’s driving people to madness, this climate change.
3 men jumped off the Verrazano to their death this past month alone.
Driving over it, it seems like a pretty steep drop.
I wouldn’t recommend it.
Better off dealing with climate change
The Maldives were supposed to be underwater by now. The polar ice caps were supposed to be melted by now. Polar bears were supposed to be extinct by now. Coral reefs were supposed to be gone by now. What is a watermelon supposed to do when all their fake predictions don’t happen? Double down and keep predicting disaster another 25-50 years away!
I highly recommend nets for the hoax deniers.

From the article: “Perhaps the most daunting headwind facing UN climate talks is rising nationalism, populism and economic retrenchment — all at the expense of the multilateralism.”
Chicken or egg?

Gee, I wonder why the rest of the world is so in favor of this plan? Wouldn’t have anything to do with getting handed US dollars would it? Naaahh.
According to my earth sciences prof (the department head, BTW) circa 1979, we had five years before man-made global cooling was going to turn Iowa into Manitoba. By the time he went off the radar, he had become a man-made global warming convert/zealot and Des Moines was going to be like Shreveport.
Our son who is a conservative living in California, yes about 1/2 of the people I met in Ca are conservative, but busy at work all day and not loud and obnoxious...
Our son said the Climate is just confused. Like gender confused. It can’t decide if it wants to be warmer or cooler, wetter or dryer, etc. And then he went on and one in a long funny rant that made us die laughing, and if you used it on one of those idiot climate change idiots, they would be SO CONFUSED that you can walk away laughing!
He used all the silly nonsense talk that they use trying to defend gender confusion...
"Just give us duh money and we'll shaddup..."
I have shoes that are many times older than that girl!

The 1975 Newsweek article on GLOWBULL COOLING
Wait...
Did bigwigs travel across the globe to party in style?
Did media get a reason to run glow bull warming scare articles by the score?
Did everyone get to bash Trump and Capitalism?
Total success.
And there is the real answer of the climate changers. All about global socialism nothing about climate.
The same liberal geniuses who tell us all about glowbull warming also thin an island will tip over if too many people stand on one side....

And this is why the US pulled out of the agreement. It’s not our job to give you money.
