So, this has become an annual thread. Each year I hope to find that special someone and each year, around this time, I realize that I may have to wait another year.
But, I can't complain. Life is good. I made a sweet potato pie from scratch and will share it with the family tomorrow at our Christmas dinner. I'm 59 years-old and have been blessed to have spent every Christmas with my parents? How many people can say that?
But, tonight it's just me, George Bailey on Bluray, some beautiful sacred Christmas music on SiriusXM Holiday Pops and a nice bottle of red wine.
How about you? Anyone else solo this Christmas Eve?
Ooops.
Sorry I forgot to put “vanity” in the title.
My bad.
MERRY CHRISTMAS jy8z, you were one of the very blessed to have had that SPECIAL person for 39 years, not many have that today, not many willing to work at that today, as hard as the holidays must be for you, you were so VERY VERY BLESSED for the time that you had together!!! GOD BLESS!! Enjoy your kids and grandkids especially the grandkids this is truly a special time for the little ones!!!
Yep alone with my 3 shelties watching Die Hard right now.
Tis better to live
On the corner of the
roof than with a
Contensious woman.
I am except for cooking for my elderly parents. Ive actually been spending the day planning a mid-January cocktail party. I get about 20-30 friends and acquaintances a year to show up. Gives me something festive to do and a time to look forward to once church is finished.
You have a ditch? Sheer luxury. We used to dream of a ditch when I was a child. :)

But seriously, Merry Christmas humblegunner, from another oldtimer.
I’m alone, trying to ignore the holiday until it’s over.
Been a rough year, thought as recently as wo months ago there was a 50/50 chance I wouldn’t survive 2019.
I prayed. A lot, and long and hard. I don’t know know if God spared me or because of good genes, perhaps a combination of both. I’m not at all through the woods, but after two years I finally got a diagnosis and a proposed remedy.
I’m watching a lot of tv today and will again tomorrow, just trying to take my mind off not having someone to be with. Very hard to keep my mind off the wayback machine, but I expect to survive.
For what it’s worth you may be physically alone, but there are many like us, and we’re with you in spirit.
No Christmas movies or news for me for a couple of days. Looking forward to going to bed soon and sleeping a while.
Then it will be time to go to store and get a jalapeño pepper.
I worked the Crisis Line for 9 years.
The period betw Thanksgiving and New Year was the most challenging. It wasn’t uncommon to get calls every month from those who just wanted someone to talk with. Many lonely people among us. But, as many of you can imagine, this is the worst time for the lonely.
Working The Line made me realize the gift of being raised and loved by my parents.
Merry Christmas!
Alone tonight and Christmas day
Will have a wee glass of Tawny Port tonight before bed. The commercialism of Christmas sickens me. I watch all the bowl games and see commercials for 'Christmasketball' Not a thought of the Savior of the world being born, just the religion of sports and purchasing 'things' to soothe the empty souls.
First time in some 55 years of marriage that my wife and I will be alone without any family around. Our sons are both spending Christmas with their wives’ families, far from us.
But we are fine with that, glad that our grandchildren can spend the holiday with their other grandparents.
I’m home alone in the mfg. plant where I build my bar stools, at sixty I don’t mind being alone with my dog at all.
Lucky to be invited to two Christmas dinners tomorrow, being good home cooked meals i’ll make it to both.:)
Merry Christmas to all you FReepers and your families out there.
Could you excerpt a little of it for me?
God bless you and enjoy your quiet peaceful repose....tonite is a wonderful night for that, as it should be....
