Several trophies and other sports memorabilia belonging to former University of Texas star Vince Young are now on eBay.

An anonymous seller says they bought the contents of two storage units that previously belonged to Young at a semi-blind auction in Houston.

“We’ve acquired 2 storage units formally [sic] belonging to the award winning, record breaking, newly inducted into the college football hall of fame, Football Star Vince Young,” the seller says in a post selling Young’s 2006 Rose Bowl trophy for offensive MVP. The “buy it now” price: $50,000. Young could not be immediately reached for comment.

The seller’s eBay page also has listed as for sale Young’s Manning Award ($50,000); 2005 Maxwell Award for college player of the year ($50,000) and his Madden 08 Xbox 360 NFL award ($12,000). (UPDATE, 8 p.m.: The items have been removed from the seller’s eBay page)

“We will be listing rare one of a kind items from these storage units throughout the next couple months,” the seller says in the post. “You are welcome to pick up locally in Austin Texas.”

He was 15 years too early to play in the NFL. He would probably be a star in todays league under these new systems for scrambling QB’s

I have heard he took it again and got a 16. He is broke, and so it is kind of sad that he defaulted on a storage unit. Wikipedia actually states he took out a $1.9 payday loan!

Is Vince Young broke?

Apparently so.

In pro sports - they teach these morons how to budget and plan for their future. That someday their multi million dollar paychecks will stop. And they had better be smart.

Apprarently Young was not smart.

The NFL gives them classes on how to manage money.

But, the average NFL career is less than five years and most are broke the day they retire.

In September 2012, the Associated Press reported that Young had spent much of the $34 million salary he earned in the NFL and was facing financial problems after defaulting on a $1.9 million high interest payday loan. Young filed a lawsuit seeking to stop the lender, Pro Player Funding LLC, from enforcing a judgment of nearly $1.7 million with a claim that the loan documents were forged and he did not knowingly execute the loan. However, Young had authorized $1 million in loan payments to Pro Player directly from his Eagles salary prior to defaulting and Young's signatures on loan documents were notarized.[75] Young also filed lawsuits against his former agent, Major Adams, and a North Carolina financial planner, Ronnie Peoples, alleging that they misappropriated $5.5 million of funds. When asked to give a general assessment of Young's finances, Young's attorney, Trey Dolezal, stated "I would just say that Vince needs a job."[75] Young's financial problems have reportedly been a result of lavish spending and, by his account, the betrayal of trusted advisers.

In addition to the $34 million salary during his career in the NFL, Young had signed $30 million in endorsement deals with Reebok, Campbell's Soup, Madden NFL, Vizio and the National Dairy Council.

In January 2014, Young filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in a Houston federal bankruptcy court. On January 30, Young petitioned the court to dismiss the bankruptcy filing due to a settlement with Adams and Peoples, and a resulting settlement with Pro Player Funding.

$1.9 loan? He could have held out an empty cut at a street corner and picked up way more than that.

He got fired from a no-show requirement job. How stupid do you have to be for that to happen?

On then several occasions during my life that I've rented a storage locker I've *never* put anything in it that was sensitive to temperature extremes or had any monetary or sentimental value.

I never knew what the wonderlic test was till today.

Took it and made 35%, then realized it was a timed test. Took it again and made 95%.

Still feel stupid, though.

We can bash Vince all day.

But that day in the Rose Bowl, he was a football god.

And he provided Texas football fans a memory that will last them forever.

Some things truly are “priceless”.

NFL stars tend to be less than five years into a 16 year education when they stop learning.

According to an article some time ago, he was surrounded by parasites, mostly from his hood, and couldn’t say no.
