Out of pure curiosity I tuned into the Miss America 2.0 last night. Partly to see what this 2.0 stuff was all about and to confirm some of my thoughts.
I remember in the 70's and 80's before we had a million channels we use to look forward to watching the Miss America pageant and we'd cheer for Miss Kentucky or what ever state you were from. Back then it seemed that Miss Texas always won.
Let me inform you that the 2.0 is exactly what I thought it was. The 2.0 designates that the pageant has gone in a whole new "WOKE" direction. Which means that beauty, talent, and accomplishment doesn't count. Especially in the case of Miss Missouri. Ugh, Miss MO. was a chunk with no talent and no accomplishments. She was clearly an affirmative action, last seven finalist. But she did check a lot of "woke" boxes, mixed race, raised in a single mother house, dad ran off, and she was a "strong woman of color" even thought he mother was white, her black dead beat dad gets credit. A lot like obama.
The three judges/hosts who were asking questions asked the most "WOKE" questions. One black female host asked about "all those annoying boomers". Yes she actually said that and no one called her on it. The black gay guy was a one trick pony, in that every time he asked a question or opened his mouth had to do with LGBT politics. And of course most of the answers given by the contestants were about strong women or diversity or anything except boys or white, old people. None of the contestants disagreed with the premise of any of the questions.
Also in the past there was always an emphasis on America and Patriotism. But the little time that I watched I didn't see any patriotism.
The only exception that I saw to all of this wokeness was Miss Oklahoma who actually said that boys need to be encouraged to be leaders and supported. Miss OK and Miss GA were the prettiest and most talented. One of them should have won but didn't of course.
Besides being woke the new format stunk and the hosts/judges stunk as well. They weren't well spoken and they sounded like they were parroting democrat talking points. The whole thing was very boring.
It really doesn't matter who won because they've finally destroyed the Miss America pageant. It seems that "woke" actually does means you do go broke.
Miss America was on last night? Is it still on national television? I heard nothing about when it was. They have it at Christmas time now?
YEESH!!!
Looked at a picture.
They’ve done the amazing.
They’ve taken the sin of lust out of the Miss American pageant. And replaced it with nausea
As a pubescent teen in the 3 channel universe there were a couple of things I’d wait all year to see.
1) The swimsuit competition for Miss America and Miss Universe (which was about as much titillation as you could hope for in a house where Dad did not subscribe to Playboy).
2) Battle of the Network Stars (which was your only opportunity to see women like Lynda Carter, Farrah Fawcett and Erin Gray in similar attire).
Ya mean women and ONLY “genuine” all natural women need apply? No artificial “gender fluid”, pretend women, at least not yet....
From back when SNL was funny: Battle of the Network T's and A's
I don’t watch that junk.
Please post a related weblink.

I don’t think so. The black gay guy asked that specific question to one of the contestants. Should trans women be able to compete and the contestant babbled in the affirmative. It’s the WOKE pageant now so I assume that non women are allowed.

Ha, great response. Remember Rush’s undeniable truth of life number 24. Feminism was established so as to allow unattractive women access to the mainstream of society.

What a great memory. Thanks for the post.
I found the contest intolerably vacuous even as an adolescent.
I would rather read a book or play a game of chess than watch that.
Why don’t they have an all star beach volleyball tournament instead?
Those were the days. Don't get me started about the Sears catalog . . .
A Columbia, Mo woman was crowned Friday night as the new Miss Missouri at the culmination of the pageant’s 15th anniversary celebration of being held in Mexico.
Esters is the daughter of Julie Fornadel of Hermitage, PA and Jeff Esters of Coconut Creek, Florida. Simone is a student at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Her platform, “Leave your MARK” focuses on mentoring youth in our state.
As Miss Missouri, she will receive a $14,000 scholarship as well as an official crown; wardrobe from the Miss Missouri Scholarship Program, Royal We, Rebekah Lane, Boston Proper, and Pink Magnolia; a fur jacket and photos from the Missouri Trapper’s Association and Fur Arts, Inc.; accessories from Melody’s Quality Jewelry; a training course; talent consultation with Bill Wolfe and more.
The runners-up were:
TTIUWP... even if she ain’t all that.
I am ready to repent.
On the one hand, the attempt to pretend Miss America isn’t about showing off women’s bodies is quite silly. Let’s not pretend Miss America is the smartest biochemist out there just because she did a silly high-school science demonstration.
On the other hand, i think she is awfully perty.
Md. America shouldn’t have a penis.
I didn’t watch this nor have much interest but good write-up!
I remember watching the Miss America pageant parade on the Atlantic City Boardwalk in the 40s-50s ... that was v1.0. Have some great pictures, but I haven’t scanned them else I’d share.
