CNN: Trump is just 67 votes away from being an ex-President and it's freaking him out
Communist "News" Network ^ | December 15, 2019 | Dean Obeidallah

Hillary Clinton's nearly 66 million votes in the 2016 election weren't enough to defeat Donald Trump. But just over 0.0001% of that could end Trump's presidency. That's the reality of what Trump faces if he is formally impeached by the House of Representatives later this week, as is expected, prompting a removal trial in the Senate.

In such a trial, the Constitution simply requires two-thirds of the Senate, in this case 67 senators, to vote to convict and remove -- then it's goodbye Trump.

Trump's fate lies in the hands of 20 GOP senators -- the number needed to join the 45 Democratic senators and two independent senators, who normally side with Democrats, to vote to convict him and end his presidency, assuming they all vote to remove Trump.

Yes, it's a huge long shot that 20 Republican senators will vote to send Trump packing, especially given Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's statement last week saying there's "no chance" that Trump will be removed. But as a former trial lawyer, I can tell you that jurors don't always do as expected. And there's always the possibility that more incriminating evidence is revealed about Trump between now and the start of the trial. Even the most secure of US presidents would be unnerved at the prospect that their political demise is only 67 votes away. ]

Removing a duly elected President for bogus charges would be the end of the Republican Party. They will never vote to remove him.

Yup. Even the dullest RINO in the bunch can read the polls saying Trump has the firm support of 95% of Republican voters.

In the name of self-preservation they are going to make this go away.

Boy they are really grasping at straws, with metal hook hands no less. This stupid headline could have read “Americans are one ticket away from winning the $500M lottery and it’s making them scream with excitement”.

Reagan always said trust but verify. I will believe your statement after the vote.

BS - if they had anything, they would have played it by now.

We really need a serious investigation of communist propaganda outlets in USA.

We need to pressure Southern Democrats like Doug Jones, not worry about the defection of 17 republicans.

Gee, CNN... that’s 67 voted away from all-out Civil War, if you try to remove Our President.

Be careful what you wish for.

He doesn’t look much like he’s freaking out. Neither (cross fingers) do the Republican senators at the moment. They can all read the polls and so can the Dems. Which of them wants to be the next Jeremy Corbyn?

That door swings both ways. Which DEM senators are going to follow Schumer on this issue? Unpredictable.

Whoa there, Dean Obeidallah, I believe you're getting a bit ahead of yourself.

The House hasn't even voted to impeach yet. They may not have the requisite votes to do so.

Only then will President Trump have to worry about 67 votes in the Senate.
