JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin told a Christian broadcaster she learned her husband was seeking a divorce in an email from his attorney.
The revelation came in an interview released Tuesday with James Dobson, founder of the Family Talk Christian ministry. He said the interview had been conducted previously.
Palin said she received an email June 19 from the attorney, almost three months before Todd Palin filed for divorce on his birthday in September.
She described the filing that came shortly after their 31st wedding anniversary as devastating. I thought I got shot, she said.
Palin said theyre going through counseling and their marriage isnt over, over. She said attorneys are getting rich off them.

Tell me. Who had more opportunity to cheat during this marriage?
And the old grandfather Todd isnt getting any hotter.
Actually, he is. I mean, NoHomo, but thats the way it works. LMAO!
Cheating isn’t the only reason marriages fall apart.
More often they fall apart from sheer lack of attention.
It’s never easy on a marriage when one partner becomes a celebrity.
BTW. I managed to get her lawyer disbarred after.
He was in the process of purchasing her new hubbies house during the proceedings.
The nasty little prick is selling insurance now I understand.
No, it’s not. Especially when the ‘celebrity’ is the woman.
And I suppose that you were a fly on the wall in their home for 31 years?
You are very quick to blame Sarah, when there is absolutely no evidence that shes in the wrong.
Or because you have a wife thats a control freak. Or because you have a wife that acts like the children are her personal private property and treats the father like hes a hired hand. Lots of reasons. I didnt say for sure that there was cheating. I was just saying that if there was, she had way more opportunities than he did.
There’s no ‘evidence’ that the husband is, either.
Don’t be fooled by the simple fact of who filed.
Could be. My son was friends with a guy in college - super nice guy, quiet, smart. He fell and hit his head - he was really lucky that he lived. Tons of college friends that took turns staying with him during his long hospital stay.
He was a completely different person after that. Mean, nasty, violent in some cases. His friends (including my son) tried to remain friends, but it just wasn’t working. And dangerous in some cases.
Or - perhaps Sarah is the difficult one? Who knows. Was sad to hear of the news, and sad to hear how she found out. 31 years!
LMAO.. How is this story connected with football? Sounds as if I hit a nerve:)
You men blame women for everything under the sun but cry foul when the tables are turned.
Nope, sorry.
Men become less attractive as they age.
OTOH, women improve with age:)
Typical male: You blame the woman for everything but the male is innocent and pure.
The hatred for Sarah Palin on FR is shocking.
Nah - thought you might’ve been carrying some residual “pissed at Bama” hence the “You never know how difficult a man is to live with unless you really know him.” comment. It was a lame attempt at a joke.
Maybe they were both experiencing other involvements, because their marriage had run its course; and they made a ‘deal’.
I personally don’t see any reason to break up a family, just because people realize that they made a mistake, or have grown out of real love for one another - it seems a lot easier to keep the family together, and find a way for each to go their own way in a discreet manner, without busting up a family.
Sometimes that doesn’t work, and people actually want to divorce. If so, it’s a good idea to do it in a graceful way - and for all we know, that’s exactly what Palin and her husband are trying to do. Her ‘position’ and celebrity may make that more difficult than it might be otherwise.
It amazes me that people here are falling for a ‘news story’, and believe that they understand the truth behind it - regardless of all the ‘fake news’ comments that we see here daily :-)
LOL!
I think there needs to be some unofficial rule on FR that, when Freepers tell stories such as yours, they have to preface the post with “I am a woman” or “I am a man”. The first read through made no sense at all because I thought you were a man.
Ok. For the record, I’m a female, and have been since birth :-)
Ditto. I always thought better of him. But now we see Todd is a weenie.
I hope Sarah moves on. Marriage counseling is almost always too late.
