Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley defended President Trump as "truthful" and said she never questioned the president's fitness for office during a combative interview with Today's Savannah Guthrie.
Haley, 47, has been defending the president on her media tour to promote her new book, With All Due Respect: Defending America with Grit and Grace, which was published on Tuesday. "I am way over time, but let me just quickly, because its been out there and you worked in this administration. Did you ever have any doubt about the fitness of this president?" Guthrie asked Tuesday morning. Haley, who alleged former chief of staff John Kelly and former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson had tried to usurp the president, responded, "I never did," adding that she never doubted his mental acuity.

The murmuring has been going on for some time and I think Haley is trying to make a case for replacement. Personally I don't see any concrete upside to replacing Pence and a lot of concrete downside to it. Trump would be a fool to replace him, and while as a politician Trump is unorthodox he's shown that he isn't a fool.
I like her a lot a lot a lot a lot.
LOL. So does the open borders agenda GOP donor class. Now why could that be? Don’t be duped by Haley’s red meat for the base. She plays for Team K Street, herself and nobody else.
I’m not worried about others.
Haley is just selling her book and tossing red meat to the MAGA base. Pence has been pretty much useless but I don’t see POTUS replacing him. Haley is young and playing a long game here. The GOP bench post Trump is incredibly thin and most potential GOP POTUS candidates have beltway stink on them.
If she decides to run for office again...like President, she's going to want President Trump's endorsement.
Do we know that she did not?
I am luke warm about this woman, but how do we know she didn't at some point mention it to him in private? I would think that President Trump would listen, then find out for himself the veracity of the claim before taking any action. My question at this point is how many other people did Tillerson and Kelly approach? And how many took them up on their offer?
In any case, you completely ignored Trump putting her in his cabinet, and then giving her the warmest goodbye of anyone who left his Administration. So either he's an idiot and a hypocrite, or she wasn't "ALWAYS a NEVER TRUMPER" as was claimed.
She says she voted for Trump, and there is absolutely nothing in her background that suggests she'd have preferred a Democrat. So unless you have some kind of secret information that she didn't vote for Trump, you're just pulling that from your sphincter.
By the way, I'm not arguing that she'd be a good candidate, that I agree with her on immigration, or that I'd support her in the primary. But that's different from the wildly over the top claim that she's "always been a Never Trumper".
Oh, how quickly people forget when Trump was running for President, she besmirched him and go back and listen to the 2016 republican response.
I don't know who you are referring to with your profoundly wrong remarks, it surely is NOT Niki Halley.
Oh, how quickly people forget when Trump was running for President, she besmirched him and go back and listen to the 2016 republican response.
Sadly, there are many hobbyist conservatives that can’t wait to move on from POTUS and go back to supporting GOPe controlled “conservatives” like Ms. MAGA. That’s all we’ve gotten since Reagan and now the country is on the brink because there is no opposition party to the progressive agenda.
Most republican voters have the attention span of a drunk gnat.
She’s such a liar. She always has been. She despises Trump, but knows she has no chance without MAGA Nation. So she’s playing the game. But the lies about Tillerson and Kelly will catch up with her.
Perhaps she has made a choice. The President gave her a rare opportunity and she fulfilled her task with strength & eloquence. The President supported her and praised her service. I think she realizes the grace she was shown.
Listening to her recent interviews it seems she is a person that would acknowledge & respond to POTUS committment to the American people and the sea change he has brought to America. Her earlier support of Romney & Rubio soured me but many others including Mark Levin were late to the Trump train. It remains to be seen whether she will campaign vigorously for POTUS and put personal gain second.
That is indeed the question on my mind. If there were others POTUS will have been more able to silently identify them and confirm with poisoned breadcrumbs because of Haley's heads up. Realizing how poisonous is the atmosphere in the White House, there must have been many maneuvers designed to ID the moles and conspirators.
She says she did tell the President. Can you provide evidence that she did not?
She did.
I had the same question on another thread.
The replies I got are summarized:
- As Governor of SC, she was pro-abortion and pro-open borders.
- Some see her as an opportunist, but the reasons given were mostly speculative or personal opinions.
- OTOH, as ambassador to the UN she was just about the strongest pro-American and pro-Israel advocate possible.
Exactly. Getting tiresome.
FReepers that voted for him in the primary think they are the only pure Trump supporters.
