I’ve used numerous homeopathic things on myself and my animals, with varying levels of success.

Nothing has worked as well for colds and ‘flu as Zinc or Oscillo reliably do.

(There may be an element of ‘placebo effect’ exhibiting there, I don’t know. If something works for me, I don’t question it, I just keep doing it.)

But for those who swear by Vitamin C for colds/flu, a naturopath told me decades ago that taking a ‘vitamin C flush’ was helpful, and I tried it.

You take powdered vitamin C (in buffered calcium or magnesium ascorbates form) - one teaspoon in a little bit of water, every half-hour until ‘evacuation’ begins.

I haven’t done it in years, because Zinc or Oscillo have been working for me; but it always seemed to really reduce the time I spent ‘under the weather’ back when I was using it. It’s not uncomfortable - doesn’t produce cramps, as I recall - but you need to have a couple of hours and quick access to a bathroom :-)

Here’s a blurb about it:

Real hot chili works for me - I sweat the virus out of me. Course I’m not fun to be around during the process.

That is unusual. But yes, you should test your blood levels of D3. Unbelievable that someone could get sick on it from the amounts in a commercial vitamin. I take a 10,000 IU cap every other day. This keeps my levels between 70-90. I take a multi K with it too.

Tablespoon of thyme in boiling water, breathe those vapors.
I never bothered with the towel over the head. Just set it on the floor by the bed & slept like a baby.

A light sprinkle of thyme in a bowl of chicken noodle soup works too.

I don’t have time to read the whole thread right now, so someone might have mentioned this, but echinachea works like magic. I take it with extra ester C.

At first hint of sore throat, I gargle deep with hot salty water. Use only Iodized salt.
Follow with listerine or Dr. Tichenor’s gargle.
All gone.

At first hint of diarrhea, eat some probiotic plain yogurt.
And then— this will sound weird— drop a spoonful of the yogurt on toilet paper & wipe with it.
Thorough hand washing every step is imperative.
The probiotic re-balances the good bacteria in the GI tract.

At first hint of pinkeye, wet a cotton ball with water, squeeze it, wet it again with white vinegar, pat the eye.
Stings like heck for a second, then gone.

My cold & fever go-to is NyQuil or a hot toddy of lemon & honey water, with a Halls Eucalyptus lozenge.

For head & chest congestion, tablespoon of thyme in boiling water, breathe the steam.

Warm chicken noodle soup with a dash of thyme works too.

Last 15 years I've staved off colds this way.

Using a Q-tip, dip one end in body temp water and then into capful of hydrogen peroxide, you want a slight dilution of the peroxide, very gently and slowly swab the inside the nostril progressing to sinus opening...STOP at this point if fearful or severe swelling of the sinus opening prevents further insertion. I continue very gently until about half the cotton tip swabs around the sinus opening. STOP and remove. Bit of a very mild peppery sensation. Be prepared for sneezing to clear sinus. Sometimes a 2nd swabbing is needed to clear the mucous. Some folks to which used my tip, used a second swab soaked in warm water for a final rinse swabbing...same results

Just last last week, woke in the middle of the night..had one nostril so inflamed it almost totally blocked breathing. Did the swabbing on both nostrils, gargled with diluted peroxide solution. Went to bed breathing normal and slept peacefully. Caught it early and nipped it in the bud. Waiting longer, sometimes another wash out is necessary.

Some 15 years and it's worked every time...don't know if the early flu symptoms can be treated this way...but never had the flu in the same period. Too simple to believe but it does work for me. YMMV. Suppose a nasal syringe would also work with a diluted solution, but I leery about getting one sanitized enough. Good health to you.

I take one D3 gel capsule (5,000 IU) each day in addition to a multi-vitamin sourced from whole foods. I also drink 50-60 oz of water.

It’s been years & years since I’ve had a cold/flu - really can’t remember when I last had one.

Don’t know if there’s a connection...but it’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

You’re the second person who has mentioned this; I had never heard of it but will remember it.

I ran across this technique from a chiropractor several years ago and it helps me tremendously with hay fever, etc. Can’t remember the last time I had a cold.

Colloidal silver acts as a very strong anti fungal/antibiotic. The US military makes some uniforms with silver thread in the cloth to help prevent infection from gunshot wounds when the cloth gets pulled into the wound.

I put my 94 year old mother on colloidal silver because of constant UTI’s and she didn’t get another one for a year.

Whenever our chickens get sick I put colloidal silver in their water and they recover very quickly.

In the old days people going west settlers would put a silver dollar in the water barrel to keep the water from developing algae and bacteria.

We keep a one oz silver bar in both levels of our Berkey water filter because its by a window and it began to grow algae. Now it never does.

You are not going to turn blue or have any bad side effects from taking properly made colloidal silver.

Not pushing it...just saying it’s worked for me every time...our immune systems are all a bit different so others may not find it so effective. For me, it’s cheap and always at hand

BTW...buying the jumbo peroxide bottles is a waste of money, it breaks down quicker than you can use it, unless it’s needed for kindergarten class.

Yes but the military doesn’t put silver in the soldiers. It’s not safe for internal use

You need to educate yourself about colloidal silver. Its totally safe for internal use as long as its properly produced. The silver in the healthfood store is properly produced and totally safe.

You need to educate yourself
Colloidal silver isn’t considered safe or effective for any of the health claims manufacturers make. Silver has no known purpose in the body. Nor is it an essential mineral, as some sellers of silver products claim.
