If a soundbite winds up being the highlight of a quarterback's night, that clearly means he didn't have a good night.
When a mic'd up Sam Darnold was caught saying, "I'm seeing ghosts," down 24-0 in the first half of Monday night's contest against the New England Patriots, it was evident that things were somehow going to get worse for the New York Jets and their star QB.
And by the time the final whistle blew on the brutal 33-0 loss to the undefeated Patriots, those suspicions had been confirmed: Darnold went 11-of-32 for a career-low 86 yards, was sacked once for a loss of 13 yards and tied a career-high with four interceptions against the NFL's best defense. An abysmal box score for any QB, but perhaps an even more discouraging one for a guy in his second game back from illness.

I know angels get involved in baseball. I’ve seen a couple of movies on it...so it must be true.
He reminded me of Flacco or Eli.
Darnold reminded me of Tim Robbins in “Bull Durham”
As a Pats fan, I felt sorry for Darnold in the second half. I can’t believe the Jets coach left him in, especially after the safety.
What a d... you are :)
Darnold’s a good guy and a kid and may still be good in the long term.
Seems like at his early 20s he’s probably done a #### of a lot more with his life than you have in your bitterness :)
ciao!
The Patriots defense is beyond real... 18 interceptions... 9 more the next best, Carolina.
My guess... This will be Belichick and Brady’s final year... Perfect season topped off with their 7th Super Bowl... Mike drop.
Two wise guys, Vinnie and Louie driving by the Jersey landfill. Vinnie sees smoke coming from the ground and says, Hey Louie! Look it! Jimmy Hoffas smoking in bed!
I have heard for years that Jimmy Hoffa was buried in the area where the Meadowlands is.
No matter how good you throw a football it’s not an accomplishment. NFL players ALL need to find a respectable job.
He threw safe passes. He threw a bunch to the Pats and they caught them all. In the second half he started throwing to the hot dog and beer vendors in the stands and that was good. My diehard Jet fan buddy said he was watching the game hoping Heidi would start. I think Sam is going to be ok. If he gets time he can make plays.
#MeToo.
I'm thinking Tom Brady (net worth $580m) does not feel the need to find a "respectable" job, as you put it.
BTW, that is an accurate net worth number. Apparently Brady's wife Giselle is the true bread-winner in that family. Without her, Brady's net worth would be more in Peyton Manning's territory (around $200m).
Brady seems to really be about promoting his brand now.

That is probably why the rumor is floating around that he and the Mrs. are looking to buy a house in CT. The Brookline house already for sale. Although, the price they are asking is much more than it is worth, even after dropping it $5 Million. Most likely he will end up in Greenwich. That way they can both work out of NYC in the future.
Makes sense to have a larger home in CT to spend weekends at.
I'm guessing that if the Pats win the Super Bowl this year, Brady retires. Going out with two straight Super Bowl wins is not a bad way to end a career.
That is funny, I get your visual.
I don’t see Brady being satisfied. He always wants one more. Even after last night’s game in the standup interview he was all “we did OK”. One more completion, one more win, one more ring. He’s going to keep going until they cart him off. They’ll have to miss the playoffs 2, maybe 3 seasons in a row before he’s willing to admit he doesn’t have it anymore.
