Trump defends Syria move: The Kurds 'didn't help us' in Normandy
The Hill ^ | 10/9/19 | MORGAN CHALFANT

President Trump on Wednesday criticized the Kurds, saying they didn't help the United States during World War II and that they were only fighting for their land in Syria during the battle against ISIS.

“The Kurds are fighting for their land,” Trump told reporters at the White House during an event in the Roosevelt Room.

“And as somebody wrote in a very, very powerful article today, they didn’t help us in the second World War, they didn’t help us with Normandy as an example. They mentioned names of different battles. But they’re there to help us with their land and that’s a different thing.”

At least others tried to make an argument, even as disgracefully as: I don’t care about stabbing an ally in the back.”

All you did was invent an insult out of total Liberal stupidity (”you fight wars”)
That’s an obligation?
Sorry about your PTSD.

Trump has had a brilliant mid-east strategy. I hope he will stick to it.

President Trump realized basically that the mid-east is a no-win situation for the US.We will always be infidels there no matter how much we help whom. We can have victory after victory only to see them taken away in a few years as we have seen in Iraq.

Also, as long as we have issues like the CIA fomenting the arab spring which under Petraeus was tasked by the deep state/cabal to take out 7 countries in the region in five years we are always going to be the big satan in the mideast and even N. Africa.

Best bet is to let the locals handle the situation. Trump has an arrangement with the UAE and the Saudis to let them take the forefront in fighting terrorists.

Turkey hates the kurds, sees them as encroaching on their sovereign territory. The coming war between the two also involves 70k relatives of isis located in the region who are mostly loyal to ISIS. Also,11,000 Isis dirtbag terror types are also being guarded or were by the Kurds in the region. When the kurds have to go to fight their own war against turkey which they cannot win on their own and may force them to Assad and Putin(not good for us) what will become of the 11,000 isis terror types? Unknown. But not difficult to fathom since rumors by George Webb are that the Turks are aiding isis.

Trumps strategy always was to have the Saudis and the UAE out front with the US providing logistics and other support in the background.Brilliant strategy! I was under the impression this was going to be the case in Norther Iraq with the kurds. Seems it's not happening.

If it doesn't Trump will be set up by the drivebys as the big satan and they will never stop claiming he sold out one of our allies the Kurds. We won't be in a good position to counter the claim.Add in the impeachment BS and the phony FNC polling and it's going to be a tough couple of months.

Excellent post Turkey does not belong in NATO. Erdogan is little more that a terrorist with a suit and his kid Bilal is even worse. A big time smuggler who will do anything for a buck.

Typical middle east BS showing that no matter how well you play the game its unwinnable. Problem is getting out has to be done with the utmost finesse.

The problem with the kurds is that they defy being stereotyped. They are so diverse you can't truly say they are this or that. There are communist type unions, many Christians, many varieties of shia and Sunni the kurds are so all over the map with their people its a miracle that they all come together when the going gets tough but they do over and over.
that should be respected.

That Enemy-of-My-Enemy-is-My-Friend crap is just that, crap. They’re still enemies and always will be.
Until the Kurds abandon the followings of Mad-Mo the pedofile warlord slaver and womanizer, they will remain part of Islam and incompatible with Western values.
Pull our guys out of every part of the muzz world and never look back.

This exposes Turkey and Erdoğan as the vile islamist who should be kicked out of NATO. -------- This might be the opportunity to do just that. Let all those fighting so hard for Kurdistan's borders explain why Turkey should stay in NATO given their military action against our "allies" the Kurds.

I can’t figure out why the Kurds were placed on pedestals...someone seems to have manufactured a tough set of “entrenched good guys” who deserve free arms and support but who don’t seem to have relevant policies/goals that benefit anyone but themselves.
Think about it - most of us hear “Kurds” and we get this picture in our heads but the picture has no depth to explain why we believe it’s a faithful depiction.

Your vocabulary is as limited as your intelect and your integrity.

There hasn’t been fighting in Syria? Really? Okay I admit that that assertion is in line with your thinking on everything else so it shouldn’t have surprised me.

There hasn’t been a war since the fourties.
These half asses engagements without a declared war have to stop.

You? You don’t even appear to know that there is a difference.

I didn’t get PTSD from a war.

I’m trying to think this through. What happened? There are plenty of places where troops should’ve been removed. (Ex: I really don’t care who rules Afghanistan and the South Koreans can defend themselves). But the Kurds need a nation. Our not defending the Kurds, causing chaos in that part of the Mideast and keeping Iran busy, helps Saudi Arabia and Israel increase their power. It isn’t what’s best for us. I wish President Trump didn’t favor Saudi Arabia and Israel in the Mideast.

Nope, he will just slow the downfall. We need 50 years of reversion to the norm - removal of leftist control in institutions, huge drop in immigration, more American babies... Perhaps if Trump continues to fill the courts with good judges... I am afraid the left will revert to their norm - violence as the courts tilt more right. The country cannot go on like this leftist control...

You are one to talk about being limited.

I posted my opinion and all you could do is bellow non-sensical personal insults while inventing garbage. about me and rules of engagement.

That’s right there was no recent fighting. Till now.

Yes there was fighting and the Kurds fought there for us. Which is the whole point about stabbing them in the back. Try your best to follow along.

We didn’t GREENLIGHT anything. The press made that up.

We warned the Turks not to do something stupid, in point of fact.

In 48 hours they violated every security agreement they signed with both the US and the Kurds. Turkey is in NATO too, which was another stupid idea in hindsight.

In point of fact, Trump warned the Turks that if they did something foolish in Syria, we’d wreck their economy, which is apparently something we are about to do today.

I agree, it is a mess over there, oil or no oil.

I feel for Israel, as they are surrounded by these jackholes.

No one has suggested stabbing them in the back.
That would be attacking them.

Here’s a comparison.

When your parents sent you out of their house and you had to stand on your own two feet, that wasn’t stabbing you in the back.

When video rental shops became too obsolete of a business model and entire chains went under, that wasn’t management stabbing the employees in the back either.

Not getting something provided for you by someone else isn’t the person not providing “stabbing you in the back”.

You sound like a damned millennial.

I get it.
Your PTSD from a war many decades ago in which we lost 380 soldiers killed has rubbed out your sense of reasoning.

You know you could finally get help for that.

Okay, without action to stop the Turks, to follow through with the promise to obliterate them, it is a greenlight for them to act as they are doing. Trump drew a line in the sand, what will he do with it?

60,000

That is the number of US veterans who have committed suicide between 2008 and 2017. And 2018 was a record year among those on active duty.

Please think on that number for a second. 60,000. And this is not counting those who are disabled but living in chronic pain or emotional agony.

Not counting the thousands upon thousands who are homeless.

Could you at least provide an article that has actual comments from the country’s leaders. This is an opinion piece by a journalist.
