The officials are accused of collaborating with Turkish resistance groups to overthrow President Erdogan, a Turkish state-run news service reported on Saturday.

Also named in the inquiry are Preet Bharara, former US attorney for the Southern District of New York and Henri Barkey, director of the Middle East Program at the Wilson Center.
“To have a big indictment of the former head of the CIA, the former US prosecutor from New York, this is one more little reminder to the public that these nasty foreigners are the ones who organised the coup attempt,” Mr Barkey said.

Sunday’s referendum could shift the Turkish system of government from parliamentary to presidential, expanding Mr Erdoan’s power over national security, the judicial system, and more. Critics claim the change would strengthen Mr Erdogan’s increasingly autocratic grip on the country.
Mr Erdogan has fallen out of favour with the west in recent years for jailing journalists and labelling opposition parties as terrorist organisations. Now, voters who seek to curtail the president’s powers say they have received death threats ahead of Sunday’s referendum. ..part of article

Nancy Pelosi today, on @GMA , actually said that Adam Schiffty Schiff didn’t fabricate my words in a major speech before Congress. She either had no idea what she was saying, in other words lost it, or she lied. Even Clinton lover @GStephanopoulos strongly called her out. Sue her?

I actually don’t think the woman is real either but that’s beside the point. Why didn’t @AOC instantly condemn what she said? That to me is the bigger problem. If the woman was a troll, she proved her point; The Left won’t condemn insanity if it’s on their side.

Today @HouseForeign, @HouseIntel & @OversightDems received testimony from Amb Volker as part of the House impeachment inquiry. Following the interview, Chairs @RepEliotEngel, @RepAdamSchiff & @RepCummings updated members.
Current & former @StateDept officials have begun cooperating with the #ImpeachmentInquiry. Based on the first production of materials, it has become immediately apparent why Secretary Pompeo tried to block these officials from providing information.
The texts Amb Volker provided reflect concerns raised by a State Dept official. He expressed concerns that military assistance & meeting between the presidents were being withheld to pressure 🇺🇦 to deliver on Trump’s demand for UKR to launch politically motivated investigations.
Earlier today, portions of these texts were leaked to the press out of context. To help correct the record, we’re providing more complete excerpts. The excerpts provided are only a subset of the full materials, which we hope to make public after a review.
