Im almost 60 and have had a full head of obsidian hair all my life. It started thinning out about a year ago. I quit using shampoo about a month ago (just rinsing and scrubbing with hot water) and it has started to grow back in and thicken (caveman like, LOL).
I know a lot of it is genetics, but makes me wonder if the chemicals in the modern shampoos and soaps are screwing us up genetically. Anyone had any similar experiences.
Aeons ago, when I was a teen (female then and still am)— we girls washed and shampooed our hair about once every month. Then the musical “South Pacific” came out and in it, a star washed her hair nightly while singing “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair!”, and we girls felt if she could do it and still have healthy hair, we started washing weekly. Still have hair, but it IS thinning (age - sigh)I’m trying Rogaine, but will also try the ACV rinse. ACV is so good for so many things! Can’t hurt.
Here’s another tip that is totally unconnected to the theme:
If you are taking vitamin D for germ and virus resistance, take minerals too or at least zinc. D gives you those annoying leg cramps in the morning, if you take a lot of it especially, and zinc somehow counteracts that.
No kidding? I’ll have to try that.
I have a problem with chronic itching on my scalp (no dandruff) and my hair has thinned considerably the last few years. I tried a hypoallergenic shampoo to try to stop the itching but it didn’t do much. I might try your method, but I’m a little concerned that my hair will be oily if I do.
If God meant for us to use shampoo, it would be growing on trees. Nuff said!
At age 79 I still have lot of hair left on my head, because I rarely use shampoo, may be once in 3 months.
Do not worry if your hair looks oily. It is no big deal. If someone does not like you because you hair looks oily, they are not worth worrying about.
Hi.
I agree. The advertising on the product states that if you use their hair shampoo you will get a “full body.”
Just ask my wife....
On second thought, forget it.

I am almost 68 and have hair as thick as I had when I was 18 with no gray. Theres nothing like genetics when its working in your favor LOL.
79 here and same story.Downside is accusations of toupee, hair dye etc.
In the ‘40s and ‘50s we used vinegar rinse too, but beer rinses were also popular for some reason.
I don’t much care what people think about it, I just don’t like it.
D = leg cramps? Who knew? Thanks. I drink water before bed and that seems to have helped. Did not think about zinc.
I shower daily and have used Head and Shoulders Shampoo exclusively daily for years. Still have a full head of hair.

It is, however, more pleasant and less stinky.
Kirks Castle soap, bar, fragrance free, top to bottom.

What a delightful coincidence!! I use beer as a rinse for my throat. Im sure me and your aunt would get along :-)
Right. Funny how posters seem to believe their water comes straight and pure and healthful from the land of sky blue waters.
Surprising that the hair of half the population doesn't just fall out on any given day. I've seen city water systems that a water buffalo...

Keep note of this simple fact..oily scalp is healthier than dry scalp. Shampoo washes away most of the natural scalp oils and you are on your way to losing hair and more dandruff.
LOL!
Yeah, I think I’ve read that before. I should just try stop using shampoo and see how it works out. Wouldn’t hurt.
