Facebook has new devices to help you video chat from your couch!
Smart speakers are popular these days but Facebook says theyre missing a key feature the ability to video chat!
The companys new line of gadgets called Portal look like picture frames but let you make video calls, too! Theres even a model that sits on top of your TV so you can video chat from the couch.
Portal TV. This device sits on top of your TV and lets you video chat from the most comfortable seat in the house: your couch. Its much more relaxing than trying to hold your phone out at arms length. The person on the other end can use another Portal or the Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp on their phone.
Facebook built a bunch of AI smarts into the wide angle camera: it can follow you around, include the entire group or focus on just one person you pick.

"Due to an inability to support a high-quality free digital service that derives 100% of its revenue from ever declining on-site revenues, TinyPic has shut down its operations. As previously announced on this website, September 16, 2019 was the last day for our users to access their accounts to download their images."
1984 was not a how-to.
You just thought listening to your brother in law over the regular phone while he’s on the toilet was bad.
We probably already have one...
No thanks.
Roku’s stock has been in decline for a week or so — that trend got started when Apple TV+ or w-ever it’s called was announced at the Apple Event.

Smart Speakers are for dummies
As for government and/or law enforcement... A definite maybe. I have no doubt if there's information they can access without a warrant, they will pull it together looking for crimes to prosecute. This is similar to how lawyers tell us never consent to a search. We are innocent until proven guilty. The only thing a search can do is turn up evidence to change that. Same thing with this voluntary search/surveillance.
I have no delusions that my life is interesting enough to merit attention from government or law enforcement. If they have nothing better to do than look into my life, I genuinely feel sorry for them, but also believe we should trim their budgets since they obviously have too much staff, too much time on their hands. Funny sidebar - I like to sing along to classic rock in the car while I'm driving. I have a terrible singing voice. Terrible might be too kind. Occasionally as a joke I'll say out loud something like "To who-ever is listening, sorry, I'll buy you a beer sometime..." Now, if I'm ever sitting in my favorite brew pub and a stranger comes up to me and says "Say, how 'bout that beer you promised me the other day before you butchered that Rolling Stones song?" I'll definitely freak out...
Seriously though, it goes back to that consent to search. If for some reason I ever do come to the attention of some government agency and/or law enforcement, I don't want to have already put out there all kinds of information - who knows what things like this fb device, Alexa, Kinect, etc. are collecting, how it is organized, how long it is stored, and how well it is secured. I don't want to find out the hard way.
As a law enforcement officer for a long time, let me tell you this. Do not consent to a search, ever! And if they have a warrant, make sure it’s signed by a J-U-D-G-E!
No.6’s pad had them.
so when they listen to you have sex, they can watch, too.
I want to put my foot in FaceBook’s A$$
Can you kindly provide the context for your photo.
I’m missing it.
Thanks
