Why did Lawrence O'Donnell Retract his Trump/Russian Co-Signer Story so Hard?
He had just done a Bombshell of a story that Trump had Co-signed with a Russian Oligarch and that Duetsche Bank had the documents to prove it. But now he is doing a crab walk backwards and is doing a Full Mea-Culpa which PMSNBC almost never does. What gives?
Well if he was Trolled, I believe he would have done a Partial Mea-Culpa couching it in terms still snide to the President. But he's doing the full crab-walk backwards. A troll just makes up stories and PMSNBC has run with these and not crab walked backwards. So what could it be?
Could it have been a Troll in the Trump administration? No, I don't think so; O'Donnell would still not be trying to come out so cleanly. Then what?
If it were Trump's lawyers threatening to sue him, he would have worn it as a badge of courage. So I don't think it was that.
My belief is that it was a fake news DNC planted story and O'Donnell's staff found out about it. Not only did they find out about it, but that it could be traced back to the DNC or whatever DemocRATic source it came from.
In other words, O'Donnell was forced to do the Full Mea-Culpa so that his DemocRAT source hopefully would not be looked into by other media and the true magnitude of his failing be exposed. AND HE DOES NOT WANT HIS SUPPORT FUNDS FROM DEMOCRATIC SOURCES TO DRY UP AND HE BE LEFT HIGH AND DRY. WITHOUT THE MONEY PROPPING HIM UP, HE KNOWS HE IS DOOMED.
Maybe it's something else. But this is the only thing that I can think of to make O'Donnell do such a thing.

Trump’s lawyers threatened to sue him. There are several threads here already about it. Even with the threat, he still only apologized for reporting it before it was vetted, and claims that there’s still no proof it’s inaccurate.

The retraction was certainly over the top. If they were protecting the source will need to be investigated.

Have you listened to O’Donnell’s so-called apology? That was most definitely not a “hard” retraction. He basically admitted to not vetting the story properly and then said something along the lines of “we don’t know if this is true or not”. It sounds like O’Donnell got pranked by a kid on 4-Chan, and was so eager to damage Donald Trump and his company that he fell for the prank hook line and sinker. If he isn’t fired immediately I hope Trump sues MSNBC into the ground.
I don’t know if it’s true or not that O’Donnell tortures kittens to death for sexual thrills. I honestly don’t.

Still waiting on the proof O’donnell isn’t a molester of little boys. An unconfirmed report on the Internet says he is, so he needs to prove it false, or we can only assume it is true.
That is not the standard. It is slander per se and the burden to prove it's accuracy rests on the person who broadcast it.

If the 4Chan story is correct, that some anonymous poster set him up, and I believe it is, then it means Odummy was cruising the boards looking for dirt and got caught.....or someone close to him, like Dan Rather’s daughter got him fired with that Bush fake news............

No, I don't think it was. He said he was sorry that he hadn't gone through the usual vetting procedure, not for what he said. It had strong apology at the front, but was essentially a take-back at the back end.
I think he realized he was trolled by someone purposely organizing “fake news” to embarrass the insane, ideologically possessed MSM.
Rather than try to dodge this, let the story of his humiliation build and then be supremely embarrassed later, he decided to bite the bullet immediately.
