NYPD fires Officer Daniel Pantaleo in chokehold death of Eric Garner
NYPD cop Daniel Panatelo has been fired for causing the chokehold death of Eric Garner, Police Commissioner James ONeill announced Monday.
ONeills widely expected decision to fire the embattled cop endorsed the recommendation of a deputy commissioner who presided over Pantaleos departmental trial earlier this year.
It also came after Mayor Bill de Blasio proclaimed that Garners family was going to get justice
in the next 30 days during a Democratic presidential primary debate on July 31.

I do maintain your assertion that Garner was simply "arguing his case" shows you have never been in this type of situation and have no idea how quickly something like this goes from verbal to physical. Also, cops do not have to wait for a suspect to attack before putting their hands on the suspect.
Its about preventing a riot. All he had to do was comply. The cop was just doing his job. The guy was built like the hulk. Top brass are cowards. They should have supported him.
No release needed as there should have been no apprehension let alone a melee of cops on the guy with a takedown.
The guy was only a threat to his own health.
“The doctor who performed an autopsy on Eric Garner testified on Wednesday that a police officer choked him with enough force that it triggered a lethal cascade of events, ending in a fatal asthma attack.
The doctor, Floriana Persechino, said the officers chokehold and the compression of Mr. Garners chest during his arrest on Staten Island in 2014 set into motion a lethal sequence.
Though Mr. Garner had high blood pressure and chronic asthma, Dr. Persechino, a veteran city medical examiner, stood by her finding that his death was a homicide caused by the officers use of force. The chokehold is a significant initial factor of the cascade, she said.”
Yes, someone did say that.

Well said.
To write that the chokehold led to a “lethal cascade” of events isn’t science.
That’s just a chronography of events.
We all know that after watching the video. You don’t need to be a doctor to understand that common sense.
The pressure with him on the bottom on the ground certainly was a deciding and likely ending factor to his life.
And as for "for selling a couple of loosies" I believe there was more to the story...a *lot* more.
“And as for “for selling a couple of loosies” I believe there was more to the story...a *lot* more.”
I’m from NYC so I know the story more than I’d like. Eric Garner is not like the other stories. It was stupid for a group of police to go off on the guy. Totally unnecessary.
“What I find outrageous was after he passed out nobody does anything! They just leave him laying there, to me thats the real crime here but it was ignored by the media and race baiters because a black female Sargeant was supervising the arrest.”
It’s like the First Responders didn’t even bother to respond, and yes that is outrageous.
I do believe he was killed by this incident, meaning if it didn’t happen, he would still be alive.
I believe he asphyxiated due to their weight on top of his weight all pressing him into the concrete. I believe he resisted when he should not have as well.
This was not an intentional act on anyone’s part. It wasn’t murder. It was a very sad accident where many mistakes were made, and the guy they said killed him is not the person solely responsible for his death as there is no such person.
Next time you get pulled over,
try waving off the concept. LOL
The coroner’s report is a load of horsecrap.
Yeah, a forensic pathologist knows a lot less than the intellectual heavyweights here. Thats why they work at the manure plant and the MDs cut open the bodies.
“To write that the chokehold led to a lethal cascade of events isnt science.

It’s BS is what it is.
“The pressure with him on the bottom on the ground certainly was a deciding and likely ending factor to his life.”
I definitely agree with this. Heck, it makes me claustrophobic and a bit panicky just looking at it.
I wouldn’t want all those people on me while I’m smashed into a corner at all.
That is,unless you believe that the cops should have said "OK,you don't wanna come with us,have a nice day".
They should have issued him an appearance ticket.
Wrestling a 350 pound man to the ground in a choke hold for selling loose cigarettes seems like a serious lack of good judgement.
And all the cops with him should be fired too.
Well you can vote for the pathologist to be president or worship them as your god if you want to.
I’m not going to buy obvious BS simply because someone has a title.
Sorry, not sorry.
Who imposed the sky-high taxes incentivizing this guy to sell smuggled, loose cigarettes? Who made the laws micro-managing how people can sell cigarettes? Who told police to enforce laws against this activity?
NY State Progressives, leftists and Democrats.
Someone who thinks they know more than someone else who is trained and experienced is a fool. But they are too stubborn and ignorant to know any better. Sad.
Who do you get your medical and dental treatment from? Some moron who insists they know more than a trained person?
Ive wasted enough time with the know nothings, bye.
Bye.
Not sure I trust the medical examiner.
