Hollywood Actor Peter Fonda Dead at 79

01:22 17.08.2019(updated 01:26 17.08.2019)

On Friday, the family of 79-year-old Hollywood actor Peter Fonda announced that he had died.

“It is with deep sorrow that we share the news that Peter Fonda has passed away,” the family told People Magazine Friday afternoon. “[Peter] passed away peacefully on Friday morning, August 16 at 11:05 a.m. at his home in Los Angeles surrounded by family. The official cause of death was respiratory failure due to lung cancer.”

“In one of the saddest moments of our lives, we are not able to find the appropriate words to express the pain in our hearts. As we grieve, we ask that you respect our privacy,” they wrote, "and, while we mourn the loss of this sweet and gracious man, we also wish for all to celebrate his indomitable spirit and love of life. In honor of Peter, please raise a glass to freedom.”

Well ... I'll say something nice.

He was brilliant in "Ulee's Gold". That whole movie is flawless and he was perfectly cast.

I’ll say something nice, too.

I liked the ‘68 Charger he drove in “Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry” though the paint job looked pretty bad when they opened the trunk lid.

But then, I like any ‘68, ‘69, ‘70 Charger especially well.

‘67 even a ‘66.

And ‘71-73 is OK. But those ‘68-’70 are my favorites.

“Raise a glass to freedom?” WTH?!?

Knowing Peter is Hanoi Jane’s brother, this seems to be a petty snarky remark—-because of course, Trump is a fascist and a tyrant and he’s anti-freedom.

Go F yourself, Hanoi Jane!!

I always liked his easy, laid-back style.

Cannonball run.

Future world.

He was amazing in Boondock Saints 2. He played a bad guy how it should be played — not with one-dimensional evil, but with psychopathic heart. He had is loves and passions, yet he projected an honest narcissistic amoral apetite to the hilt. A wonderful role in a worthless movie.

he was probably a flaming lib, but if he was, I can’t ever remember him throwing it in my face on TV or commercials or on the news.

I think his daughter Bridget is a fine actress as well, and devastatingly cute when she was young. She was wonderful in Pulp Fiction.

Sad news for his family and friends. They have my sympathy.

"Easy Rider" came out my senior year of high school.

He'll always be Captain America to me.

During a 1997 interview held in Melbourne, Fonda commented on the character he portrayed:

Ulee is the best character I’ve ever read. It’s the kind of role you pay money to do — a complex character full of possibilities and the script was full of moments that were very deep, very pure and very simple. I also found a lot of Ulee in my father. He kept a couple of hives and I can see him hop-footing it across the lawn, thinking he had a bee up his pant leg. As I began to develop Ulee, I used a lot of the way my father was to us as kids, the way he was to us as a family and the way he was to himself.[6]

Headline from June 2018: "Peter Fonda tweets he wants to 'rip Barron Trump from his mother' and put him in a 'cage with pedophiles'"

How's that working out for you Peter?

Oh, yes. What a “sweet and gracious man” he was - particularly when he suggested last year that Barron Trump be placed “in a cage with pedophiles.”

Good riddance to this leftist piece of human garbage.
