Officials are investigating after a man is seen petting a bison on the head at Yellowstone National Park. The incident was posted on YouTube on July 8.
CHEYENNE, Wyo.

Meh...that railing wouldn’t stop the critter if’n he was of mind to cross it. The fact that people were that close, including children, tells me petting or not, even the park isn’t taking such encounters too seriously.
“Youd really have to screw up to get a deer, especially a doe, to try to kill you.”
Not if the deer is carrying. Moms will do anything to protect their young.
He should have jumped on his back and see if he could last 12 seconds.
Hey!
Thats Bob.
The bison, not the guy.
Next time go over the railing and pet it.
Better yet, hop on and go for a little ride.
Some deer in parks are so used to seeing humans they have lost pretty much all fear. In times of emergency you could probably hunt them with a hand full of corn chips and a hammer.
And bison have a lot of catching up up do...
He must have a death wish.
Well, we won’t arm the deer then. I spend a good deal of time around doe’s with fawns. They’ll kick them in the head if they try to eat the apple mom’s working on. I think I’d have to tackle a baby to get stomped.
I could have hip fired my .40 cal and got her easy.
I think it’s the same one, but it goes to the same bushes at the same time almost every time I’m there.
Sorry, but you're wrong. Bison meat tastes better than steak, and is a leaner meat than beef.
It's my preferred choice over beef when it's available. I'm sure it's on the menu at Yellowstone NP.
“Taste. Like chicken.”
not bison.

Well, at least he did not attempt to milk it! After all, its basically just a very big type of cow, right? /sarcasm;)
I noticed the lion turned his head and coughed...
Yeah, bucks get kinda stupid. Strangely enough, I just heard that Oregon is banning deer and elk scents for hunting. They claim that they’ve got concerns about it spreading Chronic Wasting Disease. I just love the smell of elk whizz.
There was a Buffalo enclosure, I forget exactly where now, but it was on post, accessible to the public.
Some fool, one night, decided it would be cool to ride the Buffalo.
At least one of the Buffalo...I think there were three in the enclosure back then, was a real gnarly, mean-tempered BIG bull.
Long story short...the damned fool spent about six weeks lingering before finally dying in a local hospital...the Buffalo bull literally stomped him into the dirt of the enclosure.
I saw the pictures.
Not pretty.
There were several incidents of similar reactions while I was there, and after I left for Korea, I think they took the Buffalo out.
The public is really, really stupid.
Oh, the aforementioned fool?...he was stone cold sober.
He did it on a childish dare.
Dumbasses!
That sucker could flatten the fence and the guy in one lunge.
