Judge Says SDNY Has Ended Trump Campaign Finance Probe, Orders Michael Cohen Records Unsealed

A federal judge Wednesday confirmed federal prosecutors in New York City ended their investigation into Trump campaign finance violations, which focused on former Trump attorney Michael Cohen and the Trump Organization.
Judge William Pauley confirmed the end of the probe in an order to release the remaining files in the case against Michael Cohen, the former Trump attorney who is serving a three-year prison term for several crimes.
The end of the investigation indicates that no additional Trump Organization executives — a group that includes Donald Trump Jr. — will be charged in the investigation, which was led by attorneys in U.S. attorney’s office in the Southern District of New York (SDNY).

After three decades of ever-escalating drug overdose deaths, the tide of fatalities may have finally started to turn. Total drug overdose deaths in America declined by around 5 percent last year, the first drop since 1990, according to preliminary government data made public on Wednesday.
The reversal was slight enough that experts could not be sure whether it was the start of a trend or simply a blip.

MEXICO CITY — Mexicans are deeply frustrated with immigrants after a year of heightened migration from Central America through the country, according to a survey conducted by The Washington Post and Mexico’s Reforma newspaper.
More than 6 in 10 Mexicans say migrants are a burden on their country because they take jobs and benefits that should belong to Mexicans. A 55 percent majority supports deporting migrants who travel through Mexico to reach the United States.
Those findings defy the perception that Mexico — a country that has sent millions of its own migrants to the United States, sending billions of dollars in remittances — is sympathetic to the surge of Central Americans. Instead, the data suggests Mexicans have turned against the migrants transiting through their own country, expressing antipathy that would be familiar to many supporters of President Trump north of the border.

1. Navy leadership took a wrong (left) turn in the 1990s. The “peacetime Navy” reared its ugly head, and senior leaders lost sight of the Navy’s ultimate mission.

2. That mission is to be ready to kill people and break things upon demand (the same mission that the other services have, by the way!). New missions were created to justify the Navy’s existence, e.g., “humanitarian assistance/disaster relief.”

3. And efficiency became the new watchword in lieu of effectiveness as budgetary concerns associated with banking the “peacetime dividend” became paramount.

4. Couple that with the politically correct movement to implement and test social engineering policies in the Navy, and the result was the selection and promotion of managers as opposed to warfighters because that is what the powers-that-be wanted in senior leaders.
