You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.
The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).
Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.
PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.
You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for todays Cryptogram.
If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hals Helper below:
You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.
Solution to our last puzzle:
HUMANITY IS NEVER SO BEAUTIFUL AS WHEN PRAYING FOR FORGIVENESS OR ELSE FORGIVING ANOTHER. --- JEAN PAUL FRIEDRICH RICHTER
100 seconds.
Seriously?
Sometimes my times are in the "stragglers" category, sometimes not.
Sometimes I'll also play a online cryptogram game, which has annoying sounds, but helps practice for the "official" FR daily cryptogram...
To be honest, I'm at the point where if I can solve the puzzle in 5 minutes or so, I feel fine. I have other puzzles - in life - to focus on, too!
That’s 2:24.72 of my life that I’ll never get back. On a scale of 1-10, about a 2.
Guess the first word.
Go ahead, take a stab.
That gives you the first letter of the second word, and last two of the third word.
The third word is pretty obvious and the first three words are a very familiar and common expression. You should be off to the races at this point.
1 1/2 min. Got the first word and fill in the blanks. Skipped the 4th word, but it was filled in when finished.
The man definitely has a sense of humor... :-)
Wow. Hadn’t heard that name in forever.
Unusual first name of someone of whom I had never heard.
1:10! Thanks, keep ‘em coming.
I made a false start on the contraction, but once I straightened that out, it was easy street.
That is right up there with
WORK-THE CURSE OF THE DRINKING CLASS
ooh....I meant that to be private....sry.
less than a minute.
First word was the usual wild guess which clued the third word. The second word was an obvious (to me) word to be between first and third words.
