Jordan Peterson on Catholicism: ‘That’s as sane as people can get’
LifeSiteNews ^ | May 27, 2019 | John-Henry Westen

May 27, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) — Speaking with one of the best-known conservative Jews, Dennis Prager, at the PragerU summit last week, world-famous psychologist Jordan Peterson spoke of God and his views of faith. After speaking about his dislike for the question ‘Do you believe in God?’ Peterson said, “I think that Catholicism — that's as sane as people can get.”

Peterson has often been asked about his faith, if he believes in God, and he said the question has always troubled him. He promised a podcast on the matter since he has given his dislike for the question much thought.

He explained, “Who would have the audacity to claim that they believed in God if they examined the way they lived? Who would dare say that?”

“To believe, in a Christian sense,” he added, “means that you live it out fully and that's an that's an unbearable task in some sense.”

Then in one long drawn-out, rapid-fire thought, the type that has enthralled his millions of fans, he laid out extemporaneously the vision of a believer in God:

“To be able to accept the structure of existence, the suffering that goes along with it and the disappointment and the betrayal, and to nonetheless act properly; to aim at the good with all your heart; to dispense with the malevolence and your desire for destruction and revenge and all of that; and to face things courageously and to tell the truth to speak the truth and to act it out, that's what it means to believe -- that's what it means -- it doesn't mean to state it, it means to act it out. And, unless you act it out you should be very careful about claiming it. And so, I've never been comfortable saying anything other than I try to act as if God exists because God only knows what you'd be if you truly believed.”

See the full exchange of Peterson and Prager here.

I thought there was a violation of Godwin’s law. This confirms it. There is no reason to pay any attention to Godwin’s law violators after that.

I am sorrowful that you apparently refused to consider it with an open mind.

Don't be sad.

Again, like almost all of your observations,

quite the exact opposite is true.

I have considered it with an open mind,

I have pondered it often and deeply,

along with the Fathers, Doctors, Saints, Martyrs and

hundreds of millions if not billions of Catholics

throughout the ages that have read and pondered

the exact same scripture and historical evidence

and came to the conclusion that,

The Catholic Church is the

One

True

Holy

Catholic and

Apostolic

Church

founded by

Christ Jesus

that built Christendom Western Civilization

It's ok with me that you and your pals just see things

differently.

I will be keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

We sure did!

In your educated opinion, who REALLY appeared to the children at Fatima? 😁😆 I have my OWN educated opinion, but I wanted to hear yours.

The story of Francis' deviations from Catholic doctrine is long and complicated; many articles on this have appeared in the Religion Forum. You might want to do a user search on FReeper ebb tide, who has been reporting on this daily.

Pope Francis has repeatedly expressed sincere affinity for Martin Luther, and sees himself as another Great Reformer, this time from the top. I'll write more later. I'm on my way out, just now, and have to post a Prayer Request before I go.

Leave the Church, the Bride of Christ, as She enters her greatest earthly suffering and trial? Leave Her as She is betrayed and facing the Dragon, who seeks to devour her and her other offspring??

God helping me, may I never run, may I never desert my post. May God make me, though weak and unworthy, faithful: in love and loyalty to Christ.

The Roman Catholic Church is not the Bride of Christ, The Body of Christ. Your ‘dead’ication to the Org is misplaced. And the continued purposeful deceit of conflating The Body of Christ with the Catholicism Org is once again duly noted. The Bride of Christ/Body of Christ is far greater than any protestant or Catholic Org. But you knew that and yet continue to try and deceitfully conflate for empowerment of your Org.

BTW, teacher of catholiciism, the Dragon is written of in the Revelation of John, and that dragon is after Hebrews who have as their off-spring The Christ Who was caught up to Heaven leaving the growing EKKLESIA (body of ALL believers in Jesus down through time to the present) as HIS for Whom He will be returning in the Air (first Heaven) to take them to His Father’s House. Your clue should have been the number of stars (twelve) the woman had.

So it’s one (not counting Eastern Orthodox and Coptic Christians who have a better claim), holy (not counting all those who hide and protect rapists), apostolic (while teaching the literal opposite of what the Apostles taught).

You know, adding a bunch of white space and using flowery language doesn’t make you right; it just makes you pretentious.

For the immediate future, talk to the rubber chicken, because the face don’t wanna hear it.

your basic premise.

I’m HOPING it won’t come up in the near future. There are so many unsaved out there who need the Gospel.

But, the Lord’s timing is better than mine.

You mean, what billions have been told or have had read to them.

Considering the lack of proper biblical exegesis I have seen on these threads, I seriously call into question your claim.

It’s 12 stars for the 12 tribes and the 12 Apostles. In every sense, the true Daughter of Zion!

I never said, and never will say, that you are not part of the Church and a member of the Body of Christ. Are we not one in Christ?

“Leave the Church, the Bride of Christ,

If you are and remain a Christian, you can not leave the church nor the bride of Christ.

Can you leave the smoking hulk of heresy?

Sure, Christ took the candlestick from a couple in Revelation - but true Christians found other assemblies.

“Leave Her as She is betrayed and facing the Dragon, who seeks to devour her and her other offspring??”

That passage refers to Israel in the end times.

“Are we not one in Christ?”

After reading your posts and interacting with you for years, I have to candidly answer I hope so, but I’m not confident.

You are first in line to defend any and every teaching of Rome, no matter the source, pagan or made up. You go through great gymnastics to rationalize these things, since they are not found in Scripture.

Most of it contradicting the Gospel of Grace, by adding other requirements, such as merit via the Roman sacramental system.

At what point does all that extra distortion and addition to the Gospel pervert it...?

Only God knows friend.

May your salvation be sure.

Do you know today that you are saved?
