Tightwad, Missouri
Why, Arizona
Boring, Oregon
Intercourse, Pennsylvania
The Bottle, Alabama
Oatmeal, Texas
Eek, Alaska
Hell, Michigan
And, my favorite: My Large Intestine, Texas

Town names on the East Coast were mostly based on European town names. As the country moved further west, a freer spirit took hold.
I always liked 29 Palms in California. That would be my ultimate retirement town. But I'd have to leave the wife behind as she hates the desert heat.

Americus, GA. Home of, I kid you not, the Miss Americus Pageant. I've played that gig several times.
Also, the James Earl Carter Library, a very small building to go with his very small accomplishments.

If I recall correctly, Intercourse, PA is a few miles from Blue Ball, PA.

The European settlers did not have a lot of imagination, naming almost everything from some place in Europe.
So a couple of funny names are refreshing.

In Illinois there are two nearby towns named Plano and Sandwich. I always thought there should have been a town between them named Baloney.
