A series of tracks created roughly 14,000 years ago has revealed stunning new insight into the ways ancient humans explored dark, potentially treacherous cave systems during the Stone Age.
Researchers say at least 180 hand and footprints line the clay-rich floor of Italys cave of Bàsura in the famous Toirano caves, indicating ancient humans crawled barelegged through low tunnels as they searched for food and even explored for fun.
The group that left behind these tracks thousands of years ago included a total of five individuals, from adults to children as young as 3 years old, who navigated the dark pathways using wooden sticks as torches.

How do they know it was for fun? Maybe the kids were being punished.
Science, you know.
Yeah, I had the same question.
No, not for fun.
“What’s that noise? Let’s go investigate before it shows up and eats us.”
“Quick, come this way, and the predator can’t reach us!”
“I’ve never been this way, but the enemies killing us are behind us. Crawl.”
“Ahor cave has a pool of drinking water in the back. Do you think we have one down there?”
“Where did the toddler go? Baby! Come back!”
What kind of food would they find in a cave?
...didn’t they also have bowling alleys during the Stone Age?
Of course they did. In fact, they had well-established bowling leagues by that time.
Nice one, thanks!

Too bad we couldn't find remnants of their music. I hear this inspired The Moody Blues' "In Search of The Last Chord".
********
The wonder of flowers, to be covered, and then to burst up,
Through tarmac, to the sun again, or to fly to the sun
Without burning a wing; to lie in a meadow
And hear the grass sing; to have all these things
In our memory's hoard, and to use them,
To help us, to find......
( The Moody Blues added the word "tarmac")
This study was obviously funded by the Kumbaya Research Institute. Because life was so easy and everyone was mellow 14000 years ago. All their wants and needs were effortlessly provided thru grants and trust funds which allowed them to have all the hookers, blow and weed they could ever want. Oh, I’m talking about the researchers.
No, this family was hiding. Likely fleeing from an attack upon their settlement. The attackers would want to hunt down all the survivors to prevent warning others or the possibility of eventual retribution. A practice still followed to this day.
