If the battle of Winterfell disappointed by failing to provide an adequate death list, one may well assume the relentless bloodshed that underpinned Sunday evenings episode of Game of Thrones might appease its increasingly hard to please fan-base. But despite the demise of several key players, viewers were once again left to express their frustration, confusion and anger over what many regarded as an underwhelming penultimate instalment in the long-running fantasy drama.

Thier all mad Daenerys went full evil.. Personally I loved it because I never liked her character anyway I thought she was pretentious and self righteous from the get go
Arya is also the bouncer.
Yes, she wanted to destroy King's Landing from the get-go.
The Tarleys would not swear loyalty to Daenerys and said they would stay loyal to Cersei ("we already have a queen"). They either needed to die or go to prison, but could not be let loose to do more mischief for Cersei.
Daenerys has never been flawless, but up to now she was portrayed as "more sinned against than sinning".
The problem with great stories that could potentially never end is that almost every possible scenario is available to the writers. Depending on how many drinks they’ve had while they pen it - it can end up being awful or absolutely epic.
Jamie turning back to the darkside last week killed it for me.
They cheapened the entire season with that impulsive move.
I can easily see Sansa sitting on the throne after Jon gets killed by Dany.
Can’t see Tyrion surviving.....
Jaime wanted Cersei to surrender.
His conversation with Briana didn’t make it sound like that.
And somebody said upthread they may not be dead - yet.
If I understood this right, Tyrion was planning a way for Jaime and Cersie to escape. So he had Davos put a boat by a little known exit from the castle. Unfortunately Euron showed up at the spot and Jaime had to waste time fighting Euron. But had Jaime succeeded, he and Cersie would have escaped by boat to start a new life.
“I was fine with Arya killing the Night King, and for one battle Jon be near worthless.”
Don’t forget the Battle of the Bastards where he led his whole army into a trap and then spent most of the time buried under a pile of bodies until the Vale knights showed up to rescue him.
“Coupled with Tyrion asking Davos about smuggling something just before the battle?”
I assumed he was talking about smuggling his brother Jaime out of the camp undetected.
There are going to be seven books total, and he's only finished five so far.
He did sit down a few years ago with the writers and tell them the "big picture" of how it was supposed to end. But he's also gone on record saying that he unhappy at a lot of their storyline decisions.

I think it's more likely that Danaerys heads back to Essos than that she gets killed. Killing Danaerys would mean a whole bunch of angry Dothraki, UnSullied, and a ticked-off dragon. With only one episode left, I don't think there's really any way to resolve all that.
But she's made numerous comments that she knows what it is like to have people look at her like they look at Jon, and that was all in Essos. So if she takes her army and her dragon back home to rule the people who love her...it kind of solves all those issues.
My guess is that The Seven Kingdoms will return to their pre-Targaeryen state of being just seven kingdoms, with separate Kings/Queens.
Ive seen her megalomaniacal tendencies for a while.
They always think the way from where they are now to utopia requires spilling an ocean of blood. So they do spill an ocean of blood - but utopia never gets any closer. She claims future generations are why shes such a butcher and that theyll never suffer a tyrants rule with her victory. Firstly it looks like that future generation is going to be a lot smaller since she killed so many people in the present. Secondly, what tyrant could be worse and could do more harm than her?
Martin gave them an outline years ago, and has clearly said that the show is going in a different direction for the ending than what he is planning in the books. He has not been heavily involved in the show since around season four, instead he has been trying to focus on finishing the books.
I know this comment will be going a little soap operish BUT, imagine if Daenerys is pregnant with Jons child. The unborn child would be the future Targaryen King/Queen, undisputed......fade to black and a future series.
To me, what Danaerys really did last night was not win the throne, but rather just destroyed it both literally and figuratively. There isn't an Iron Throne, and there really isn't even a King's Landing any more.
Cersi was willing to shield herself with all the civilians knowing they could be caught up in a bloodbath.
She threw down the gauntlet by killing one of the dragons and Danys friend.
When it all fell apart she just thought about herself.
To me Dany thought no one is going to enact revenge so here i go....
Will be an interesting ending as you state there is no throne, only the symbolism of one.
Could be Jon reruns with her to her land, and honors her as queen. She sees that
it was a folly to rule people who will constantly back stab.
Or Arya , Sansa, Tireon become ruler of what’s now whatever the kingdoms are called, or each becomes its own with no overall ruler as the inter family battles should have been ended..
You didn’t watch it but feel free
to browbeat those who did. Right.
