Amazon warehouse workers are monitored by tracking systems that measure each employees productivity, issue warnings for workers that lag and fire those consistently behind, according to documents obtained by The Verge.
Amazon offers a base $15 an hour wage and its warehouses, called fulfillment centers, are often competitive to work at. The company is continuously replacing slow performing employees with new hires. An automated system tracks employees and gives pink slips to consistent underperformers, The Verge reported. An Amazon spokesperson told The Daily Caller News Foundation that no employee is fired without meeting with a supervisor.

It is reasonable to expect an honest day’s work, but is Amazon using reasonable metrics to measure and taking into account the inevitable human imperfections?
I’m betting almost every one of us would eventually lose our job if we were to be measured by Amazon’s metrics.
Aging employees who have lost a step will be sent to the glue factory.

Where did you think Amazon got its Soylent Vanilla product from? And, yes, they sell it enter it into their search bar to see it.
Amazon is not racist so they sell Chocolate flavor also. But they refer to it as Cacao so as to not offend.
Hey robot, if you think you can do a better job then do it!
I’m in a rural area and all the young people that will actually work, have all worked at the same places multiple times. Convenient stores, grocery stores and old folks homes.
Pretty much everyone has worked at the Royal Oak plant down the road at some point in their lives.
I’ve always said Rats are completely immune to charges of hypocrisy. Jeff Bezos who runs Amazon and the Washington post is hero to the left.
The left wanted a $15 hourly rate? this is the result.
Possibly, but we don’t know what their metrics are. My only point is what I have observed over the years. People go to work and don’t work. I have seen it happen where I work. I was taught you work unless you are at lunch or on a scheduled break. I have seen people spend most of their time discussing the television shows they watched the night before, their kid’s band concert, etc. Work ethetics have deteriorated over the years. People want a pay check, but they don’t want to earn it.
I wish t’hell my local deli sandwich counter would do this...
Metropolis, just an amazing movie especially when you consider when it was made.
I read that as; Robots track, fire upon thousands...
Hump a robot, get dumped by a robot..?
Wait till the Racism lobby gets a hold of those firing stats, gonna be fun watching them shake Ol’ Jeffy down.
Thankfully, those three aren’t the only choices!
And when he does, I wonder if Amazon will tell him to go take a flying f**** at a rolling donut.
“Aging employees who have lost a step will be sent to the glue factory.”
I believe that is the appeal of the nanny-state to so many today. While FReepers tout the numerous jobs available in the trades, the simple truth is that older workers in those fields specifically are vulnerable. If the government forces employers to keep them on until 67 (unthinkable is a competitive environment, and with no place in a “free” one), I’m sure people would embrace that work. Otherwise, they end up as worn-out unemployable 50 year-olds...
