Volkswagen has crunched the numbers to show electric cars produce lower CO2 emissions than petrol- or diesel-engined models, for the entire lifespan of the vehicle.
While it may be clear that an electric car produces no direct CO2 emissions when driving, Volkswagen has demonstrated the wider savings through use of a ‘certified life cycle assessment’ process.
The company has taken the all-electric e-Golf, and the traditional diesel-engined Golf TDI, to demonstrate just how substantial the differences can be over the whole life of a car.

You are incorrect - the batteries are under warranty for either 8 years OR 100-125k miles, whichever is first meaning the average will be less than 8 years - I’d guess 6.5 years on average. Yes, there is recycling the battery at the end of its life but that’s also true of both the diesel, regular gas and electric vehicles in general. If this is your “debunking” its not a very good one.

It clearly states the warranty is for 8 years or less for all types of cars, including the S and X
Real world data shows greater than 90% capacity for Tesla batteries past 160,000 miles.
And the technology keeps improving.

The study in question assumed the battery lasted 10 years which would be right at about 160k miles for a typical driver. You claimed the study was bunk because the battery had unlimited miles but that is only true for 8 years, shorter than the study’s time frame. And you can trust “cleantechnica” for your 90% claim all you want. I certainly don’t.
No its not, it’s miss-leading. The study used 10 years, longer than the 8 years the warranty covers. You really are a Tesla tool.
Time does not enter into the CO2/miles equation.
Do you really not comprehend? They are estimating a 10 year useful life of the battery (2 years past warranty) and used 15,000 miles per year because that is the AVERAGE driven by a typical vehicle driver. Obviously, many people drive less and more, but studies typically take the average.
