“Becoming” as the name of her book reminds me of Martin O’Malley’s successful campaigns for the mayor of Baltimore and the governor of Maryland. His entire campaign was the word “Believe.” He never said what to believe. I think that Obama got the idea from O’Malley for “Hope and Change” without saying what to hope for or what needed changing. At least O’Malley, a phony and an empty suit, did not win the Dem nomination.

For awhile when I was a kid, my dad tended bar at a steak and seafood restaurant. We didn’t have much money, and he kept bringing home leftover clam chowder which we ate all the time. I got styes in my eyes, painful, and I was sure it was all the clam chowder that caused it.

I can’t eat clam chowder to this day.
