Years ago ( in the 1970s), I was a mechanical engineer for a local company who had, as one of the other technical folks, a man who was the then Mayor of Corte Madera. He and the entire city council of Corte Madera were recalled because, on the advice of the city’s planning staff, they approved a building permit for a Safeway that the “locals were told was the natural habitat of the Salt Marsh Harvest Mouse.” The guy told me that “ if you saw one of these rodents in your kitchen, you’d kill it!” Marin has, for all of my lifetime been the genesis of all the loony liberal ideas that take hold here in California. It is a county that is loaded with expat Capos from New England who want to impose their will on the rest of the state but are certified NIMBYs when it comes to having any of their nonsense dispensed where they actually life.
