We moved to the country. My dog and cat never had a flea problem before, but now they do. Weve tried everything. What works? Seresto flea and tick collars. Theyre very expensive; over $50 even on Amazon.
They dont last six months as advertised. But they do work.

Politics—from Greek, poly (many) + tics (blood sucking parasites).

In that case talk to your vet.
Dog and human systems run very differently so their "it is good for humans" argument is not very convincing.
The Internet tells you many contradictory things. You would think it was run by democrats. :)
So check with your vet.

When I was growing up... you light a match, blow it out, and touch the hot end to the butt of the tick.
They don’t like that.
Beyond that, Triazicide the yard (double check the label).

Feed them dried raw food...or the best dog food you can....we did this with a cocker years ago who was a flea factory...switched food, and fleas decided they didn’t like him anymore.

He's had a few ticks over the winter, which is unusual, but with the good weather, he's getting three or four a day...sounds as though he'd fit in well with the Washington crowd - they like politics, where poly=many, ticks=blood-sucking insects.......

Dosage is no where near what the chart on your link says is max.

Ceresto Collar.
Since using this Collar I havent pulled a living Wood or Deer tick off of my Lab.
We are surrounded by fields and woods. Ticks always an issue. Ceresto has been awesome.

We use a quality collar, coupled with Frontline. However, we have a large tract of land, a big swath of which is forest.
About mid-season last year, we commented that we had not seen ticks as bad as we have the last 2-3 years. The dogs, even ourselves from just working in the field or the yard, or taking the dogs for a walk through the forest, usually produces 2 or 3 ticks, if not more. It's become routine to check each other nightly, and the dogs.
Interestingly, the cats seem almost impervious. It is rare when I find a tick on one of the cats.
Also interesting to note, we've seen a marked reduction in the number of copperheads in the last 2-3 years. That may or may not have anything to do with it, but we think it's not a bad trade off.

Actually, a dog smelling like roses is not such a turn off. Would rather smell roses than a wet dog.

Lyme disease is certainly nothing to mess with, in animals or humans. Garlic and onions are NOT to be eaten by dogs. Either could cause your animal to have seizures and possibly kill him. Just like chocolate - to be avoided.

I use Flevox on my dog. Get it from Budget Pet Care. Works well. Never has fleas.
