(Re:J.Assange);”I have never seen an embassy that didn’t have some level of armed security. Typically military, but often armed national civilians of the embassy in question.”

Makes sense generally.

However....

This is the Swiss Consulate in Kansas city; (I know.. a little different!)

Swiss Honorary Consulate in Kansas City, the United States - 5018 Main Street

Located in:

Andre’s Confiserie Suisse.
5018 Main Street Kansas City, MO 64112

Mostly people buying chocolate and going to their “Tea room” for lunch and dinner. A good advertisement for travel to their country.

If I have to travel to Europe its going to be to Switzerland, and I know where to go to sit and have coffee and pastries while I wait to be called by the consulate personnel to apply for a passport!

Oddly enough I’m going to be there next week for the new project I started. Expected to travel but not this soon.

I’m assuming you are a US citizen. If so, you would use a US passport, and there is no need for a Visa to Switzerland.

I know what you mean about Swiss chocolate, and European chocolate in general. European chocolate is much better tasting than our chocolate.

Just passing time waiting for Q.

American foreign service posts always have at a minimum a two door system for entry; most have a wall before the building itself. If you work in the Information Processing Center, after going thru Post 1, there are several more doors, locks, unicams, spin dials, and alarms before you enter your vault... and more combinations before you unlock anything or rev up the communications;)
